😠 If I could give this 0 stars I would! It’s been an absolute FREAKSHOW. I cannot believe they call themselves a company! I applied for fibre at the end of April 2023. Within 3 days I got confirmation that they would come install my router (since there was already a line). They came that Friday and started installation, until they said the fibre line was too long and that I should wait for maintenance (they left all wires open in my garden in the rain). Maintenance NEVER SHOWED UP. Called them multiple times that day, the next day, the next Monday and Tuesday. They showed up Wednesday evening and again was so rude it was unbelievable. Then the next problem (that took a week to resolve) cane up. Our router was not registered. Had to send them images and struggle for another few days. This brings us to yesterday (17 May) and they said it’s active, yet I have no internet connection. Now they are demanding payments within 24 hours or my line will be suspended and my account will be [read more...]

Axxess is a South African internet and hosting provider founded in 1997 by Franco Barbalich. What began as a small website-hosting and web-design outfit evolved into a broader ISP with dial-up, Wi-Fi hotspots, mobile data, and eventually one of the larger privately owned networks in the country. Leadership today still reflects the original vision of offering simple, affordable connectivity with a strong service ethos, backed by a 24×7 technical support call centre.
They operate across both connectivity and hosting. On the connectivity side, they sell ADSL, fibre (prepaid and monthly), LTE/5G mobile data, routers/devices, VoIP, and value-adds like backup power and range extenders. On the hosting side, the portfolio covers Linux shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS and Managed VPS, email-only hosting, and domain registration/parking. Hosting stacks emphasise SSD storage, unlimited traffic on shared tiers, and common app installers.
Shared and WordPress hosting target small sites and blogs needing quick deployment, with SitePad and Softaculous for one-click installs; WordPress servers are tuned with LiteSpeed and LS Cache. VPS plans add IPv4/IPv6, monthly backups, and a menu of control panels and server tools (cPanel, DirectAdmin, InterWorx, Webuzo, Softaculous, KernelCare, Imunify360, JetBackup, CloudLinux variants). Managed VPS layers on full management, weekly backups, and ongoing optimisation. Email-only hosting focuses on simple, branded mailboxes with AutoSSL and anti-spam. Domains can be registered, parked, or pointed with basic DNS controls.
The corporate story also highlights network expansion: multiple IPC connections per region and five international routes for lower latency, alongside the goal of keeping pricing competitive on a self-operated backbone. That said, hosting documentation is lighter on infrastructure specifics than many enterprise-focused providers.
💰 Price & Cost
Positioning is cost-conscious across the board, with headline examples:
- Email-Only Hosting: Plan M at R45/mo (includes webmail, AutoSSL, anti-spam, mailbox controls).
- Linux Shared Hosting: Plan XS at R59/mo (SSD storage, unlimited traffic, SitePad, Softaculous).
- WordPress Hosting: Plans from R109/mo (LiteSpeed + LS Cache, cPanel, unlimited traffic).
- VPS Hosting: entry plan shown from R20/mo (SSD storage, IPv4/IPv6, monthly backups, unlimited traffic; 99.9% uptime stated for VPS).
- Managed VPS: examples such as cPanel / Pro Plus 30 accounts at R2,539/mo, with fully managed support and weekly backups.
Refunds / money-back: there is no general money-back guarantee. Terms indicate refunds aren’t granted for mistaken purchases; a refund may be considered only when a service fails to perform as described in the product/T\&Cs/AUP (with banking-fee rules and timelines where applicable).
🏢 Data Center
Hosting is presented as South Africa-based. Servers may hosted locally in Port Elizabeth (also the head-office location), but current product pages do not publish specific facility names or a multi-city footprint. Power/physical security features are mentioned across plan descriptions (UPS, generators, monitoring), yet detailed data-centre specifications are not broadly laid out for hosting the way some competitors do.
Uptime: a formal uptime figure is stated for VPS (99.9%). No explicit uptime claim appears alongside the Linux Shared or WordPress pages.
✍️ Customer Support
Support channels include phone, email, live chat, and WhatsApp, with 24/7 availability and a managed call centre. While the company emphasises client-centric service and long hours, there are also reported customer complaints about technical support, which is a noted drawback in user feedback. Escalation via departmental email contacts is available.
🔨 Control Panel
Control-panel options depend on product:
- Linux Shared / WordPress: WordPress hosting explicitly uses cPanel; Linux shared plans reference an Axxess web hosting control panel with SitePad and Softaculous.
- VPS / Managed VPS: choice of cPanel, DirectAdmin, InterWorx, and Webuzo; plus add-ons like Softaculous, KernelCare, Imunify360, JetBackup, and CloudLinux editions.
- Email-Only hosting: managed through an Email Control Panel with webmail (SquirrelMail/Horde/Roundcube) and standard mailbox features.
- Domains: standard DNS and renewal tools.
🎯 Conclusion
Axxess offers a broad, budget-friendly blend of connectivity and hosting tailored to South African customers. Strengths include affordable entry pricing, unlimited traffic on shared/WordPress tiers, SSD-backed plans, rich VPS software options, weekly/monthly backups on managed/self-managed VPS, and 24/7 multi-channel support. Domains and email-only plans make it easy to assemble a minimal web presence.Trade-offs are worth noting. There is no general money-back guarantee, infrastructure transparency is limited (few public data-centre details beyond location context), and uptime is only explicitly stated for VPS. Mixed impressions around support quality also appear in customer commentary. Overall, they suit cost-sensitive projects and SMEs that prefer local hosting with flexible control-panel choices and a big ISP behind the scenes—provided that the lack of a broad uptime SLA and money-back policy aligns with risk tolerance.

😠 Disgusting Service from Axxess
I am utterly disgusted by the service given to my parents. I am currently in china and they call me everyday to try and help them sort out the issues they face with the provider.
A special arose and my mom found interest and decided to sign up for fibre. They where told it came with free installation...she is later told that she has to pay for installation and the router and all sorts of other costs which came up to R1240.00.
They said they would install within a week and still nothing. My parents called, emailed them every week with no help at all. Eventually Senior Management asked that they be given one more week as they are given a month to install and a month would only be the following week. A month passed by and still nothing.
My parents called again to complain a week after the month passed and eventually people were sent to install yet it was still not working. They call them to make them aware and were then told to make another payment of R350.00 to activate. [read more...]

😠 Everyone reading this. Be warn!!!! this company is just taking money from you, it is a month to month account, but fail to pay on the first and your account will be suspended no matter how much data you have left and if you skip two months they will first let you pay for the months not use and thereafter suspend your account again so you force to pay full upfront. They are clearly ripping you off and force their ways on you. STAY AWAY - I strongly recommend Rain as an alternative. AXXESS it is time for you to EXIT!!!

😠 Axxess has the worst customer service!
No matter how many e-mails one send to this company regarding your account payment, there simply is no reply from them. Then, all of a sudden your account is suspended more than a week after payment. Terribly bad service.

😠 Axxess Mobile
ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!!! Worst customer service!!! They purposely take extended delays in responding to simple queries while making sure they DO NOT actually respond or address your query in NO ATTEMPT to resolve but instead to drag it out and continue to rip customers off!!!
What a RIP-OFF, atrocious customer service and DUBIOUS marketing!

😠 Worst support i have ever had.
have to log same fault over and over as they close faults to make stats look good.
have to call over and over and get same run around , when you ask to escalate they say they have but nothing done.
cant wait for my fiber to be installed so i can finally move.
Would not recommend them to anyone if you value support and service

😠 Appalling service! My word! it's the 23rd of December, 23 days since my sim should've been activated but the Accounts department is busy quarreling with the Shipping department on whose responsibility that is. i'm supposed to be on the 3GB per month MTN plan

😠 - Do not discuss anything with support over the phone, get it in writing.
- Do not give Axxess your credit card details.
- When moving and cancelling your line, check your "Axxess control panel" to confirm it is no longer running and is scheduled to end.
I had asked to cancel my line over the phone and It was not cancelled. The instruction should have been made more clear and confirmed I was not going to pay 2 months extra for a line I am unable to "axxess".
Our line at the previous residence was unplugged, had no one staying on the property and there was no modem or any means to have signal, yet Axxess support report's data was being used on that line.
Hopefully, they have the customers best interest in mind someday. Moving residence is expensive and stressful enough.

😠 Don't get fooled like me by AXXESS with their Telkom fixed LTE data package It's 4G strict! that means it doesn't have a 3G fail over so if your 4G fails you wont have internet access and nowhere on their packages it indicates that it's 4G strict except the coverage map that shows all possible network bandwidths available in the area but still that doesn't indicate that their packages are 4G strict. Complaining wont bring anywhere they just pull their shoulders up and you have to pay for ineffective contract or cancel it with fee

😠 My "free" service was anything but free. The minute I canceled, I got charged, and when asked about it, they hung up on me - when trying the LIVE CHAT feature, they closed the window on me. My server was down at least once a week (some weeks up to 4 times) for 6 month. I got shouted at by a support agent, and two people now hung up on me. I'm sitting with at least 4 support requests that were not answered. I now cancelled my hosting package, got charged for a domain, AND I lost the domain.
