Oct 9, 2008 : ColoSpace Passes SAS70 Audit
📅 - Colocation, managed hosting and disaster recovery services provider ColoSpace (colospace.com -> firstlight.net) has successfully completed SAS70 Type II audits at all of its six data centers in New England, making it the largest SAS70 compliant data center provider in the region.
"Our core business consists of servicing firms in the financial services, healthcare and high-tech industries, but every company can benefit by working with a service provider who has met the stringent standards of the SAS70" ColoSpace co-founder and COO Aaron Sawchuk said in a statement.
The SAS70 Type II is part of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act that governs data center operations and internal controls, and while it was originally intended for the financial services industry, the SAS70 has become a high standard for evaluating outsourced data center solutions.
Sawchuk said ColoSpace is also the most geographically diverse set of SAS70 compliant data centers in the region with massachusitts facilities located in Somerville, Waltham, Rockland, Marlborough, and New Hampshire facilities in Bedford and Manchester.
Boston-based auditing firm UHY (uhy-us.com), which specializes in SAS70 compliance, was comissioned to audit ColoSpace's business practices.
"UHY was a logical choice for us. They give us more attention than the traditional 'Big Four' but they still have decades of experience and a global reach" Sawchuk said. The big four auditors Sawchuk referred to are PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, and KPMG.
ColoSpace is the latest data center provider to announce its SAS 70 II completion. In June, data center services provider i/o Data Centers (iodatacenters.com -> hostinger.com) passed its examination.
