Oct 1, 2007 : Stargate Builds Green Facility

📅 - Data center operator Stargate Holdings (stargateinc.com -> hostinger.com) announced on Monday it has added a flywheel-stored motion system, an environmentally-friendly energy system, to back up power in its new high-density facility in Oak Brook, Illinois.

"Stargate is committed to the extraction, rather than mass cooling, of heat expelled into its new data center," says Stargate CEO G. Gary Chaffin. "The use of leading-edge Flywheel Technology to support critical loads traditionally provided by conventional battery UPS systems, maintains the company's responsible and unique design approach to green technology."

Located in Oak Brook, a suburb of Chicago, Stargate's Tier 3-plus facility features 2,700 tons of cooling and six diesel generators in 86,000 square feet. Several major companies have already selected the green facility for its server colocation needs, says Stargate.

Other features of the facility include service-oriented enterprise colocation, up to 200 watts per square foot, redundant A+B UPS and generator power, 34-foot ceiling height, around the clock remote and smart hands, armed guard and man-trap security access and neutral carrier connectivity.
