Nov 28, 2001 : F5 Joins BEA Star Program
📅 - F5 Networks, Inc. (f5.com -> hostinger.com), a provider of Internet trafficand content management products, announced yesterday that it has joined thegrowing list of companies in the Star Partner Program of BEA Systems, Inc.(bea.com), an e-business infrastructure software company.
F5 and BEA have successfully completed interoperability testing between F5'sBIG-IP Controller and BEA WebLogic Server, providing customers with ahigh-performance load balancing solution that supports BEA WebLogicclustering. The combined solution allows enterprises to achieve superiorreliability (99.999% uptime), scalability and SSL processing power for BEAWebLogic clusters and the applications they support.
By using BIG-IP's Layer 7 capabilities and integrated SSL processing, BEAWebLogic can more efficiently process the increasing number of IP-basedapplications and services that enterprises, service providers ande-businesses are delivering over the Internet. Plans for further integrationbetween F5 and BEA products will be accomplished through F5's iControl API(application programming interface) allowing BEA WebLogic to sendinstructions to F5 products for simplified management and improved trafficdistribution. This integration should benefit customers by reducing theirsetup and management responsibilities, as BEA WebLogic will be able toautomatically send configuration and management updates to F5 productswithin the network infrastructure. The integration will also includespecialized performance monitoring of BEA WebLogic by F5's BIG-IP and 3-DNSproducts, designed specifically to enhance traffic direction and thescalability of BEA server clusters.
The BIG-IP Controller has been designed and tested to properly manage users'connections to BEA WebLogic clusters. By adding BIG-IP to the solution, customers can track and determine end user persistence to BEA WebLogicservers, which ensures that each user is sent to the proper BEA WebLogicserver.
"BEA WebLogic Server powers sophisticated e-business applications withinsome of the world's largest sites and data centers," said Jeff Pancottine, senior vice president of marketing and business development at F5 Networks."Top performance, high availability and security of IP-based Web servicescontinue to be critical issues for most enterprises. Deploying F5's productswith BEA WebLogic adds definitive and measurable value by helping customersmeet these objectives. F5's iControl API brings additional value to BEA'scustomers by offering seamless integration between BEA WebLogic Server andF5 products, allowing the network and the applications to communicate. Thenet result to the customer is a model for hands free administration and alower cost of ownership, while achieving higher performance, scale, andreliability levels."
As a member of the BEA Star Partner program, F5 will receive benefits inmarketing, sales, training, education, and technical development. BEA Starmembers are systems integrators, independent software vendors andapplication service providers building e-business solutions on the BEAWebLogic E-Business Platform.
