Site Ground is an independent web hosting company founded in 2004 by a group of university friends in Sofia, Bulgaria. Ivo Tzenov was one of the co-founders. What began with one hosting plan and approximately 1,500 orders in its first year has grown into an international platform serving more than 3 million domains. SiteGround has more than 500 specialists, and its LinkedIn profile places the workforce in the 501–1,000 employee range. Nikolay Todorov and Tenko Nikolov currently serve as co-CEOs. The company remains privately owned and independent, without the consolidation history common among hosting brands controlled by large conglomerates.

Several registered companies support the international business. SiteGround Spain S.L., incorporated in 2015, is identified for the primary European website and privacy administration. SiteGround Hosting Ltd. has operated in the United Kingdom since 2014, while SiteGround Hosting EOOD supports the Bulgarian organization. Other group operations cover the United States and Cyprus. This structure allows SiteGround to maintain regional storefronts for Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, Latin America, and the wider international market.

Web Hosting is the main service and comes in StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek editions. Every tier runs on managed Google Cloud infrastructure and includes unmetered traffic, SSL, daily backups, a CDN, professional email, managed WordPress functions, and SiteGround's proprietary administration tools. Managed WordPress Hosting follows the same three-plan structure. WordPress installation, core updates, WP-CLI, SSH, the Speed Optimizer plugin, the Security Optimizer plugin, and a WordPress AI assistant are integrated. One professional migration is included with eligible hosting, and the WordPress Migrator plugin handles further self-service transfers. Staging becomes available with GrowBig, while GoGeek combines staging with Git. The result suits site owners who want WordPress performance, security, and routine maintenance handled without administering the server platform themselves.

WooCommerce Hosting combines the managed WordPress foundation with a preinstalled WooCommerce store and the Storefront theme. Merchants retain access to the broader WordPress and WooCommerce extension ecosystem. Its 14-day trial requires no payment card. Build supplies 5 GB of storage. Sell expands this to 10 GB and adds ecommerce with the 3% platform fee. Grow offers 50 GB and eliminates that fee, while Scale reaches 100 GB and adds more extensive store and staff capabilities. Hosting, SSL, backups, security, email, and support are part of the platform, which keeps the basic small-business setup under one account.

Cloud Hosting supplies dedicated CPU and memory within a fully managed environment. It includes a dedicated IP, unlimited websites, managed software, optional automatic scaling, white-label administration, custom client packages, and priority support. WordPress management, staging, Git, SSH, caching, CDN, security, email, and team collaboration are also included. It is a managed cloud service rather than a low-cost unmanaged VPS. SiteGround no longer has a public standalone VPS or dedicated-server range, so customers who require root-managed virtual machines or physical servers will need a different provider.

Reseller Hosting is delivered through GrowBig, GoGeek, and Cloud instead of a separate legacy reseller panel. Each hosted website remains isolated, and the reseller can choose its data center independently. GoGeek supplies white-label access and private DNS; Cloud adds custom resource packages, more precise client permissions, and autoscaling. The wider product set now reaches beyond hosting. Email Marketing includes a visual editor, templates, subscription forms, automations, segmentation, list cleaning, campaign analytics, AI-assisted copy and images, DKIM, SPF, and double opt-in. Its entry allowance covers 500 contacts and 5,000 messages each month. AI Studio provides access to multiple AI models and task-specific agents for WordPress, SEO, ads, email, images, reputation management, and social media; hosting customers receive an Essential level. Coderick AI creates websites, web applications, dashboards, and internal tools from conversational requests, with hosting, a database, version control, staging, and Stripe connectivity included. The 14-day Essential trial permits 100,000 credits, one project, and 3 GB of storage, while Plus and Pro raise these limits.

Domain registration includes DNS management, two-factor account protection, and a year of privacy protection for eligible extensions. A qualifying annual hosting purchase includes the first year of a .com, .org, or .net registration. The localized stores support English, Spanish, Italian, German, and French, with billing in USD, EUR, GBP, and AUD according to region. Promotions, taxes, prices, contractual terms, and some product allowances vary among storefronts, so customers should use the version intended for their billing country.

💰 Price & Cost

European introductory hosting prices are EUR 2.99 per month for StartUp, EUR 5.49 for GrowBig, and EUR 8.49 for GoGeek. Their respective renewal rates are EUR 15.99, EUR 27.99, and EUR 39.99 per month. The offer requires payment for 12 months in advance and excludes VAT. Because the initial reduction applies only to the first term, the regular renewal amount gives a more realistic view of long-term expenditure. Prices differ elsewhere: the United Kingdom storefront bills in GBP, Australia in AUD, and the US and worldwide stores in USD.

Managed cloud service starts with Jump Start at EUR 80 per month, including 4 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD storage, and 5 TB transfer. Business costs EUR 160 for 8 CPU cores, 12 GB RAM, and 80 GB SSD. Business Plus costs EUR 240 for 12 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM, and 120 GB SSD, while Super Power costs EUR 320 for 16 CPU cores, 20 GB RAM, and 160 GB SSD. All four provide 5 TB of monthly transfer, monthly billing, and no setup charge. The international store uses different amounts and begins at USD 100 per month.

Email Marketing has a 30-day free period, after which its first annual term starts at EUR 2.40 per month for 500 contacts and 5,000 monthly messages. Larger allowances are available for growing lists. European domain prices begin at EUR 10.99 for the first year of a .com or .org, followed by regular prices of EUR 20.99 and EUR 21.99. A .net begins at EUR 11.99 and regularly costs EUR 22.99. Domain discounts apply only to the first invoice, and registration fees are collected in advance.

Shared hosting carries a 30-day money-back guarantee, and managed cloud plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee. Domain registrations, paid support, and third-party services are excluded. When a promotional domain was initially free, its normal registration price may be deducted from a hosting refund. The facilities belong to Google Cloud rather than SiteGround itself. They provide distributed SSD storage, redundant network paths, multiple electrical feeds, enterprise UPS systems, and onsite generators. Google's private backbone carries much of the inter-facility traffic. When a physical host fails, its storage volume can be attached to a replacement virtual machine, helping restore service without rebuilding the account from scratch. SiteGround's own CDN extends the delivery layer to more than 170 edge locations.

The service commitment is a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Shared plans receive daily backups retained for 30 days. Cloud accounts receive seven days of geographically distributed daily backups in addition to on-demand restore points. Infrastructure protection includes limited physical access, continuous facility security, encrypted inter-facility communication, and hardware security keys. The underlying Google Cloud program matches electricity consumption with renewable-energy purchases and maintains a carbon-neutral operating commitment.

Site-level performance combines NGINX direct delivery, static caching, dynamic caching, Memcached, Brotli compression, customized MySQL, and an optimized PHP implementation on qualifying plans. SuperCacher brings the three cache layers together, and upper shared plans use a faster PHP setup. Security includes free Let's Encrypt certificates, isolated accounts, malware controls, a frequently updated web application firewall, AI-assisted bot filtering, and server monitoring at half-second intervals.

Threat totals shown across SiteGround products differ widely because they cover different periods, systems, and traffic scopes. Daily and hourly figures therefore should not be compared directly or interpreted as contractual protection levels. The dependable points are the layered defenses, site isolation, backup schedule, and formal uptime commitment.

Outside the primary cloud platform, SiteGround Hosting EOOD maintains AS59851, a small Bulgarian routing footprint. Current BGP visibility includes three IPv4 /24 announcements, transit from Telehouse EAD, A1 Bulgaria EAD, Cooolbox AD, and Init Lab, and peering with Neterra. The customer-hosting platform normally uses Google Cloud networking, so AS59851 represents a separate corporate network rather than the complete path for every hosted website.

✍️ Customer Support

Support operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week through live chat and tickets. Phone assistance is available for sales, billing, and technical questions, with a temporary eight-digit code used for account identification. Telephone service is in English; chat and tickets handle the other supported languages. Channel availability may depend on the current workload and the complexity of the issue, allowing advanced cases to reach a specialized technician.

The Client Area begins with a searchable help center and AI assistant, then exposes an appropriate contact channel when self-service is insufficient. SiteGround records more than 90% first-contact resolution and 98% customer satisfaction. These figures are the company's own service measurements rather than independent ratings. 🔨 Control Panel

The proprietary Site Tools panel has replaced cPanel throughout the service. The final cPanel server was converted in 2021, which makes older cPanel references historical rather than a current plan feature. Every website receives a separate Site Tools area for domains, DNS, mailboxes, files, databases, PHP, SSL, CDN, backups, caching, traffic statistics, security, and development utilities.

An account-level Client Area controls subscriptions, payments, users, and site ownership. A collaborator can work on an assigned website without gaining access to the owner's entire account. GoGeek and Cloud add white-label access, private DNS, custom user roles, and client resource packages. Completed projects can be handed to a client through the site-transfer function.

Technical users receive SSH, SFTP, WP-CLI, staging, cron tasks, phpMyAdmin, a file manager, application installation, and Git on eligible tiers. Site Tools is more focused than a general server control panel and keeps common hosting functions close to each website. The tradeoff is platform portability: customers accustomed to cPanel must learn a different workflow, and a future move to another provider may need more manual preparation when the destination uses an unrelated panel.

I've used SiteGround for 13 years. Over those years, they've changed a decent bit, some of which bothered me quite a bit at the time, but they've still kept the core essentials there, and they've made some decent improvements in some areas. Although I remember being quite bothered about some of the changes, I only remember one of them, which is that they got rid of the option to use email when requesting support, but even that issue I've decided I don't mind much that they've changed. Their support is always of impressively high quality and prompt. I'm not really sure how they manage to afford such capable support given what I pay them. There's not been a single issue they've been unable to resolve for me, and I've thrown a decent number of curve balls at them. So, as long as nothing major changes, I intend to continue with them for the foreseeable future.

While the process was easy enough, I assumed that process included a payment for the new year. 😠 Siteground used to be amazing and have amazing tech support, now their super-fast response time is really just a smoke screen for someone else submitting a ticket for you, the person on the phone or chat can't help.
Our problem had to do with our site sending an error message, their response was incorrect and was costing us too much money. We found a new host.

First let me say I selected 'Plan not listed', because as a collaborator I don't know what the plan is.
The support person clearly answered my question. It was the answer that I was disappointed with. I was asking about the automatic backups that are taken of our site. Specifically I was asking how to download those backups, providing an off site back. I was disappointed to learn that the facility only allowed them to be restored locally, and from them I would need to separately export the database and the flat files.

My first reaction to that is, this is a tool that is designed to up sell to a plan with more storage. Because for anything that would be difficult to rebuild if you had to start from scratch, you always want an off site backup.

This isn't somebody's payroll or bank account or pension, but it would still take an enormous amount of effort to reconstruct. Any anything that you don't want to lose, you take off site backups.

I had a terrible experience with them, I needed to fix a website that is critical for me and I needed to access it, a rep gave me wrong guidance and when I requested supervisor she starting blaming me for the problem, finally none of them could find an obvious problem and I had to find solution myself, the system was screaming the error at me: command not found but none of their support techs found it, because none use their brain, they just post articles.

😠 I found it was to hard when needing to change a credit card. It would not allow the credit card information to be changed under billing and came up with error messages, but when asked to do this through a renewal the card worked. I think the system needs to be looked at to make sure that people can update their credit card information easily. We were told it was an error with our bank, but when talking to our bank, they said that there was nothing on our side that should have stopped us from entering it. This took us time to get this done so am unhappy with the site, but the representative we talked to today was very helpful.

It took me nearly an hour of trial and error just to find the support person to chat with. Then, when my site was registered, I received a couple of server names and had no idea what to do with them. Nikolay was very helpful in explaining how I needed to reach out to a completely different agency. I paid the $30 for SiteGround to migrate my site but I sure didn't understand the error message saying I wasn't pointed at the correct place and I really didn't know where that place was, let alone how to get there. SiteGround, which once was an amazing company, has gone downhill. Not only me, but my friend (who was a PAYING CUSTOMER), SiteGround suspended his account because HE WAS FROM INDIA. The worst part? He still had 5 months left in the plan and that was expensive as it was the GoGeek plan. Also, to add icing to the cake, SiteGround REFUSED to return the money stating that the refund period was over. When my friend asked them to at least resume the service till its expiration, they denied stating that SiteGround has ceased operations in India and hence they can’t re-activate his account! SiteGround simply STOLE his money! Luckily, he used PayPal to pay for the plan. So, he raised a complaint with them, and within 24 hours, he got his entire money back. Thanks, PayPal!

I provided my personal details, but when I got to step 2 and someone was to verify my phone number, it couldn't be done. I went out and bought a new SIM card, and put a lot of money on it, and then tried to sign up again, but you're site could not contact me to verify my phone number. Then I found out that my credit card was charged both times I that I tried to sign up, even though I never got a chance to. I was told however that the money would be refunded to me. After some time it was, but it caused me to get very concerned, because there is literally no one that I could talk to on the phone.. only by chat. And when I asked to speak to a supervisor about my card being charged, I was told I couldn't over and over again. I have had great "up-time" and great support from patient technicians. However, the control panel has been a challenge; just as I got used to it over the last two years, SiteGround changed it - now I have a whole new learning curve that I don't want to spend time on, but must. Their prices are acceptable only because their people are so very responsive. Were it not for the up-time and people, I would have changed. I am encouraged that things may get better by the fact that SiteGround has requested input to improve. Cheers!

😁 I've been searching for new hosting and SiteGround looked good and they have delivered. I had good speed before but better now and the support that was missing is fantastic.

I have beginner/intermediate skills and use a proxied domain and transferring from a prior staging server so not hard, but not easy either. They helped migrate my sites over, explain issues I had with my options chosen and did it all via 3 chat sessions and none involved a wait time and all were in perfect English.

So far a very big tick from me and price is very reasonable. I would never pick the cheapest as they have to skimp somewhere. SiteGround seems great value.

😠 All this happened in arround 6 hours.

I had in the beginning a very good chat and I told the sales department that I wasn't very happy with my server (other hosting company) at the moment. The sales department adviced me and together we decided to go for a plan. But I explained the exact details of my requirements and this was according to him no problem. I could also test 2 websites which has a large data. After this I paid directly and we would afterwards upgrade for huge pack for arround 500 GB.

When I was migrating the 2 sites it took very long for any movement so I contacted the customer service, I had a chat with them, now they said the pacckage was too low that I had to upgrade. I told them this wasn't the agreement. They insisted that I first did the payment. I told them this was the fault siteground and they had to fix wat they had promised.

😁 I ABSOLUTELY love Siteground! I've never seen a hosting provider so good! I used Godaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost..but Siteground is by far the best one!
Their support is the best thing! Their dev team is so kind, polite, and really wants to help you out. As I write, I just stayed over 40 minutes in a chat and they solved a complicated and annoying URL rewrite issue I was having that would take me hours and hours figuring out.
The support is also QUITE fast. You click chat and immediately there is someone there to help.
I also like how fast the server is. You see I used to host at Hostgator. My GTMETRIX score was C. The moment I transferred to Siteground, without changing absolutely nothing, my website got an A and it was loading way faster.
For someone complaining about "not having a Cpanel", all you gotta do is just talk to them in the chat and they will enable that for you very quick. They do that because people that are not Devs get intimidated by the Cpanel. Their new solution [read more...]

Since they moved their host to GCP, and used a custom control panel. It has to be to worse experience ever. My websites took approximately 40 seconds to load. I confirmed this with other friends in completely different countries, and also, I had a very minimal site with around only 5 plugins. Some other guy also had a website and was complaing the same thing.

Just, never go with them really.

😠 They were great , just changed frontend and know a 100 times harder to use. If you have more than one website , forget them now they have made that extremely hard to use . Good luck on Cpanel , it's now useless , they made that almost impossible . Was so easy to use now they are just focused on money options instead of an easy access to the client. Really dont like them now , plus their great customer service has been cut down and wait times are extremely high . I am very impressed with SiteGround. The quality of support is extraordinary. With SiteGround support I have taken on very difficult projects and succeeded every time, usually after receiving help from the support ares. They respond to tickets in a few minutes, ie 5-10 and they solve problems. Recently I have been testing Userport with Joomla 2.5 and lost my ability to sign in. They fixed the problem and helped me reinstall the application, quickly and cheerfully. I recommend SiteGround very highly.

😠 Horrible state of hardware
I have been hosting with these guys for years and devastating issues pop up regularly. I just received info that there has been a HD failure again on my main site, this is the second time on this one site. All e-mail accounts have been wiped. First time they wiped my entire website and database.

I paid for an SSL certificate in December 2010 and it took them 8 months to figure it out and today, September 2011 it is still not working. I got an e-mail from them stating that they want me to fill more forms out. And all they do is re-sell Global's certificates.

I have never gotten as much as a sorry from them. Not even a free month to re-build my business. I lost clients & money due to the horrible state of their infrastructure. HD failures are a regular occurrence every 8 months at least.

Getting hold of customer service is next to impossible alone and the company feels that they have zero responsibility for everything that is happening.

😠 Disappointing hidden limits!
I was with them for about 6 six years..in the beginning they were helpful and no limits were on the acct until a couple of years ago inodes and processor limits and backup limits started appearing in cpanel..so with a large site like mine it was impossible to download a backup without paying!soon my website was getting more traffic and the server was blocking the site of without them even telling me about it..when i contacted support (which is a entire mission by the way)they offered me a server for 100bucks a month..so from 8.95 to 100 dollars !! madness!!eventually they came up with another solution and that was 25 dollars still way too expensive considering the traffic of the site!even that server was limited so no good for my needs..i am sorry but the unlimited service they offer is a scam!!be careful or you will paying for it believe me !thanks for your attention.

when i've got the chance to try it with their "Friends Special Hosting" back then i just think "why did'nt i try their friends special first, if they good as i think they were maybe i upgrade it with more fire power" then i pay it just to test their capabilities...n you know what,their hosting is suck they say unlimited but limit my files,unmetered bandwith but limit only 20 process at a time and they gave only one domain..
with all due respect why don't you tell me earlier about the limit,put it on the banner before i go further??

😁 I'd previously hosted small business domains elsewhere, and SiteGround is head and shoulders above the others I've experienced. Great features at a very good price--maybe not THE absolute bare minimum price, but excellent for the features, and outstanding for the service! That's the thing, what makes SiteGround stand out compared to other value providers: They actually provide customer service! With other low-cost providers I tried, things were fine...Until something didn't work, that is! Then good luck! One place I tried, they simply literally never responded at all to any service questions. I've had very few problems with SiteGround in the first place, but hey, stuff happens, and when it has, they not only respond, they're courteous, and they fix the problem. And note, I do NOT have their premium service, just the regular old discount service. Great provider, very impressive over these past couple years!

😁 Site ground offers a great price on hosting. Seriously I have not found a cheaper hosting service that also offers such great features. The only downfall I find in SiteGround is that you can only have 5 add-on domains, and you must pay for each one. Aside from that, SiteGround is top notch at a very affordable price. I would recommend them to anyone looking to host a site. Uptime has been 100% for me, I payed only 25$ for a year of hosting and a domain name. All in all, a truly great hosting site

SiteGround go the extra mile and will provide answers when the fault is caused by my inexperience rather than any problem at their end. Every other host I have worked with has been very quick to point out when a problem was of my making and that they don't have to do anything - and they don't. I have been 5 months with SiteGround and every experience has been a positive one.

😁 I keep reading on this page certain experiences/statements that simply do not coincide with our experience with siteground.

We have been tired of hearing "everything looks good on our end" from GoDaddy. Their server uptime typically was 95-98% for the last 6 months (!!!) With downtimes as serious as 14 Hours in a day!

We transferred our site to siteground. 100% uptime.

We purchased a reseller hosting to realize that it was overkill for us. Requested refund back - promptly billing support analyzed the situation, issued refund back $195 (including the set-up fee). Per their policy - refunds issued within 30 days of the order. Simple. No problem.

No, we did not find any phone support compared to GoDaddy. But after spending our precious time with uneducated reps (too many of them lately at godady), we realized it was pointless to have a phone support without strong system backing. 😠 SITEGROUND IS A SCAM!!! I signed up for the service and was promised help in getting the site going. Nothing on the site has ever been functionable. I wasted many hours and money trying to figure out things myself. Followed all the instructions and reported that nothing would work. All I heard was excuses. They have taken my money and offered no service or resolution to these issues. I feel that this is a scam site and warn any one from payiong for a service that mis represents. If you read positive reviews then it is by people who work for this company! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS GETTING YOUR MONEY! BEWARE THIS IS A RIP OFF!!!

they lure you in with low prices. Then they charge you for stuff THEY CAUSE!

e.g. they DEMANDED I upgrade my moodle account and shut my business service off for over 5 days. TO fix they charged me $200. Then, when I did what they asked, UPGRADE, using their script, it failed!!! Another $75 per site!!

😠 they send hidden payments. they even do auto renewals billings with out your approval.

their customer support is lousy, their line gets disconnected.

customer support is only good when they are doing sales. aside from that they dont want to chat with you directly and send you a ticket instead after you paid them.

Very Disgruntled Customer (-no email-)

😠 Appalling customer service. I have just been accused of doing something deliberately to get around their terms of service.

The may offer unlimited hosting - but check thier TOS. It puts a 5GB limit of backup files, 5G on media files etc.

Anyway, we mirror our Knowledgtree document management filesystem on a shared server. Knowledgtree stores it's files without a file extension.

This makes it difficult for their incompetent support personnel to say if I have exceeded a particular 5GB limit.

Because they can't do this they regularly threaten to terminate my account - even when though they can't prove it.
