😠 The best thing about HostJava.net is that they have a $1 trial service. I took advantage of it (thank goodness). After the account was not set up by the next morning, I got in touch. No phone. Live Chat gets dropped. So e-mail it is. Four hours later they told me the reason for the delay was that my account was in review at their billing department. This was 18 hours *after* the billing department had sent me an invoice, and a receipt for the completed payment.
It only gets better. Since you have no control of the account except through cPanel, you can't do things like change a MySQL setting for using lower case table names with InnnoDB. *That* request went in over 60 hours ago.
Oh and if you put a ticket in on the cPanel - lookout! It goes to the belly of the beast... RoutHost.com and I will let you go and read some reviews about them elsewhere.
These are only samples but pretty damning ones if you ask me.

😠 "The Worst Customer Support Ever!"
I was just like you looking for a cheap Tomcat web-hosting service, and ordered 14-days trial (Shared Tomcat) at Hostjava.
Now, I am relieved I chose a trial, because the guy at the customer support is just an asshole! I could imagine how stressful it would be if I purchased their service.
I tell you why.
Below is how I treated at Hostjava, and drove me nuts.
1) They (or He) never pick up phone.
2) They (or He) respond ticket slow.
3) They (or He) say "Online Chat is for Sales Only" and leave chat when several questions are asked.
4) They (or He) say "I resolve the issue" and "I can not say ETA."
(...well, is it fixed or what? And, It never get fixed.)
5) They (or He) close ticket even though the problem is not resolved.
Also, I must remind you 24-Hour support never exists.
I think there is only one person works there.
So,
It might look attractive (price & service) on homepage but it never compensates an extreme stress [read more...]

😁 First, the opportunity for a free trial is great. I started with the free trial, using the Shared Tomcat service. As pointed out in other posts, debugging on a shared Tomcat is a bit of a challenge, but at $8/month, it's a great price.
I ran into trouble deploying my first application - and eventually switched to Private Tomcat thinking that might solve the problem. Eventually I found the problem in my database configuration, unrelated to Tomcat - and certainly not hostjava's issue. So my app is now up and running - but too early to give much feedback on performance/uptime/etc.
But I can report on customer service. I was very pleased. However, I think it is important to have reasonable expectations. Since my application is not critical, I had the luxury of time to get it working. Each night I would get a thoughtful response to the question(s) that I had posed during the day. 😠 Absolutely poor and horrible customer service!!! I am still waiting for my refund that I am entitled to after canceling my account with them. Either my emails now get ignored or i get a reply after 2-3 days "we have notified our billing department". They are low level thiefs! People do your self a favor - avoid this web hosting company: host java

😠 Poor service... The worst service that i never seen. The live support never answers (any hour, same message: Department is currently unavailable. Please leave a message.). Tickets systems only works since 12 a.m to 2 a.m. If you send a ticket only will be response at those hours... May be just one person works there.
I dont recommend this service. I was asking just for a simple permissions (777) to a folder called WEB-INF and it took around 3 days.

😠 I cancelled my shared tomcat before the money-back period was over, but never got my money back. I kept issuing tickets reminding them. And they kept promising that they would refund me. I learned not to deal with webhosts that do not have a phone number.

😞 One of the worst customer support. just one person is there in the support and she too becomes angry if too many tickets are there. Take toooooooo long to respond to tickets. They will treat u well only for first 14 days - trial period...after you have paid you their customer service officers run away.
