📜 About Fire Host

FireHost: A Decade of Pioneering Secure Hosting (2006–2016)

In an era when “web hosting” often meant only uptime and basic support, FireHost stood apart by asking a radically different question: “What if security was the foundation of hosting, not an afterthought?” This philosophy led to the birth of FireHost in 2006, headquartered in Plano, Texas, and it would go on to reshape expectations in the world of managed hosting.

Built from the Ground Up for Security
FireHost wasn’t created to simply serve websites; it was designed to safeguard them. From the outset, the company made security its core offering—not a feature, not an option, but a fully integrated component of its hosting environment.

While other providers layered security add-ons over existing infrastructure, FireHost embedded protection at every level. Whether it was PCI DSS, HIPAA, or SAS 70 compliance, FireHost didn’t just support standards—it helped define how they could be operationalized in hosting environments.

Each FireHost data center came equipped with:
24/7 physical security with biometric access
Multiple fiber entrances with diverse routing
Redundant power via industrial-grade UPS and diesel generators
Double-interlock fire suppression
Precision climate control, including hot aisle isolation

Geographical redundancy, with a replication center in Scottsdale, Arizona

This infrastructure served more than just startups or blogs—it catered to banks, hospitals, government agencies, and Fortune 500s. FireHost didn’t only offer hosting—it promised resilience against both physical and digital threats.

The Secure Cloud, Ahead of Its Time
FireHost provided an early model of what we now recognize as secure cloud hosting. Long before “zero trust” or “cloud workload protection” became industry terms, FireHost was offering:
Secure Virtual Private Servers (VPS)
Dedicated Servers with Compliance-Grade Safeguards
Fully Managed Hosting for both Windows and Linux environments
Secure Database Hosting (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
Open Source Application Hardening for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and more

Every environment was actively monitored for intrusion attempts, malware signatures, and DDoS attacks. Features like real-time antivirus, intrusion detection, and application-aware firewalls weren’t options—they were standard.

Customers benefited from full-stack managed security with none of the usual complexity. Small businesses could launch an online store or web application with confidence that their digital assets were shielded to the same standards demanded by the healthcare and financial sectors.

A Human-Centric Approach
Despite their high-tech pedigree, FireHost was just as passionate about human support. They prided themselves on their 24/7 on-site staff, composed of certified engineers who knew their systems inside and out. This wasn’t outsourced or automated support—it was real, hands-on help from people who understood enterprise security.

FireHost’s commitment to customer relationships was so deep that many of their enterprise clients considered them an extension of their own IT departments. With proactive support, customized architecture guidance, and regulatory consultation, FireHost offered more than service—it offered partnership.

Transformation into Armor (2015–2016)
In 2015, FireHost underwent a strategic pivot that reflected broader changes in IT. Recognizing that the cloud landscape was becoming more complex—and that security would be the linchpin of the future—the company rebranded itself as Armor.

This wasn’t merely a name change. The transformation represented a shift from being a secure hosting provider to becoming a cybersecurity-as-a-service company. Armor focused on protecting data not just in their own data centers, but also within public clouds like AWS and Azure—an ambitious leap into the rapidly growing cloud security market.

By 2016, FireHost as a brand was officially sunset, but its ethos lived on in Armor’s mission: to make cybersecurity simple, scalable, and accessible, regardless of platform.

Legacy and Impact
Today, the FireHost brand is gone, but its legacy is felt across the modern web hosting and cloud security industry. It helped redefine what “secure hosting” really means and paved the way for security-first cloud providers.

Why FireHost Mattered:
It set early standards for compliance-based cloud hosting.
It gave small businesses enterprise-grade protection without the enterprise IT team.
It challenged the assumption that hosting and security were separate conversations.
It brought managed security to the cloud before the industry knew it was needed.

In a time when most providers were racing for price or speed, FireHost stood for trust. For a full decade, it served as a haven for businesses with high security needs—and laid the groundwork for what modern secure cloud solutions look like today.

😁 Firehost rocks
I liked fire host for many of my customers and represent a lot of companies that value their security I know the cost is not inexpensive however you are getting fully managed service with the ability to add DynECT anycast DNS and Edge CDN then fire host really flies I love their Support staff they're always happy to help and their presales are fantastic as well I could not be happier I Don't know of a host that gives you as much for the money when you really think about it maybe Pair Networks but both of them are excellent hosts you can't go wrong with Firehost and I know that my server will be up zero down time and I'm happy I switched over to them and recommend them to anyone.
