Tiscali was founded in January 1998 after the liberalization of the Italian telecommunication market. This helped them launch the very first online service available for Italy and the Western European market in 1999.Tiscali grew as an Internet service while acquiring hosting providers like WorldOnline (a Dutch group - worldonline.nl ), Liberty Surf ( libertysurf.fr ), Video Network Internationals Ltd and Pipex Ltd. Between 2008 and 2011 ( pipexltd.com ), they became a mobile operator due to the fact that they released MVNO services.
In 2010, they became a member of the "2010 Fiber for Italy" project. In 2019, Tiscali joined a partnership with Open Fiber, while in 2020 they became a commercial partner for the project running in FiberCop. Their website is available in both Italian and English.
