Yahoo Small Business is now a historical / inactive hosting brand. The old smallbusiness.yahoo.com identity no longer operates as the original Yahoo-branded small-business hosting platform and now redirects into the Turbify ecosystem. The service passed through several business names over time: Yahoo Small Business, Aabaco Small Business, Verizon Small Business Essentials, and finally Turbify after Infinite Computer Solutions acquired the former Verizon Small Business Essentials portfolio in 2022.Yahoo itself was founded in 1994 by Jerry Yang and David Filo, while Yahoo’s small-business hosting activity became known around 1999. A major earlier milestone came in 1998, when Yahoo acquired Viaweb, an early web-based ecommerce platform founded in 1995 by Paul Graham, Robert Morris, and Trevor Blackwell. After the acquisition, Viaweb became Yahoo Store, giving Yahoo one of the earliest hosted ecommerce platforms for small businesses.
The old Yahoo Small Business platform focused on complete online-presence tools rather than advanced hosting infrastructure. The main services included Shared Hosting, WordPress Hosting, Domain Registration, Business Email, SSL Certificates, Website Builder, and E-commerce / Store services. It was a strong option for small companies that wanted a domain, website, email and online store in one place, but it was not built for users looking for VPS, dedicated servers, reseller hosting or colocation.
Shared hosting plans included useful business features such as free domain name, mobile-ready website tools, free SSL certificate, business email accounts, secure FTP, database support, scripting support and PCI-compliant hosting context for ecommerce projects. WordPress hosting added easier website creation and management, while the ecommerce tools continued the old Yahoo Store tradition.
The current Turbify service keeps much of the same small-business direction alive. Its product range includes Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting, WooCommerce Hosting, Business Mail, Domains, SSL Certificates, Localworks, and professional Website Design services. WordPress hosting now includes infrastructure based on Microsoft Azure, NVMe storage, SSL, cPanel access and managed WordPress updates.
The strongest part of Yahoo Small Business was always convenience. A small business could register a domain, build a website, create email accounts, add SSL and start selling online without needing separate providers. The weakest part was flexibility, because advanced hosting users had fewer options compared with traditional infrastructure providers.

😠 I had a HORRIBLE experience. I purchased the 5 yr domain hosting for $118 and needed more help. 3 days after purchasing I reached out to Yahoo chat to get help. It was a long wait but it was still unclear to me on my free email and website combination. I still needed more help because I still did not get the correct answer the first time only to chat for over an hour with a customer service rep who continued to repeat themselves over and over and not understand what I was needing for help although I made simple and clear. I finally was fed up with my experience and asked for a REFUND. This was after multiple attempts for help and 6 days after purchase - but because it was not within their 72 hour cancelation policy, regardless the amount of times I reached out for help with no direction and no responsibility taken by YAHOO on their part. The supervisor VINAY 02/10/2021, pretty much summed up they will Not refund me and instead STEEL MY MONEY regardless of my experience and multiple attempts for help.
