Servdiscount is a German budget server provider operated by WIIT AG, with technical roots in myLoc. The underlying Düsseldorf hosting operation dates back to 1999, while dedicated server services began in 2001. Co-founder Christoph Herrnkind continues to play an important role within WIIT AG’s German management.

The business changed ownership in 2020 when Italian cloud and managed infrastructure group WIIT acquired myLoc for more than €50 million. MyLoc had previously belonged to the ProSiebenSat.1 group. The German activities were later consolidated under WIIT AG, while Servdiscount remained active as the group’s low-cost self-managed server brand.

Servdiscount is primarily an infrastructure provider rather than a conventional shared hosting company. Its portfolio centers on dedicated servers and Linux VPS, making it better suited to administrators, developers, agencies, game server operators, and businesses that can manage their own operating systems and applications.

The dedicated server range relies mainly on mature Intel and AMD hardware. Available configurations can include Intel Core i7, Intel Xeon, AMD Ryzen, and AMD Opteron processors, together with SSD or conventional hard drive storage. Many systems include two or more disks, allowing customers to configure software RAID for redundancy or improved performance.

The use of older but proven hardware helps keep monthly costs low. These servers are suitable for websites, databases, development environments, VPN gateways, game hosting, backup tasks, storage projects, and other workloads that do not require the newest processor generation or enterprise-grade managed administration.

Dedicated server customers receive full root or administrator access, dedicated processor and memory resources, a public IPv4 address, a 1 Gbps network interface, and included DDoS protection. Windows Server 2022 is available on compatible systems, while Linux customers can install common distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Fedora, and openSUSE.

The Linux VPS range follows a more standardized structure. Plans provide between 2 and 12 virtual CPU cores, 4 GB to 32 GB of memory, and between 100 GB and 1 TB of storage. The virtual machines are fully isolated and include direct administrative access.

VPS storage is primarily capacity-oriented, combining HDD arrays configured with hardware RAID 10 and an SSD acceleration layer. This setup is practical for general hosting, development, file storage, application servers, and services that need substantial disk capacity at a low monthly cost. Applications dependent on intensive random I/O may benefit more from a pure NVMe platform elsewhere.

Every VPS includes a 1 Gbps network connection, snapshot functionality, VNC console access, firewall management, remote reset controls, operating system installation, and options for temporary or permanent resource upgrades. A complimentary .de domain is also included with VPS packages.

Commercial control panel licenses are optional. Customers can add Plesk or cPanel when they need graphical administration for websites, databases, email accounts, domains, and hosting customers. Servers can also be managed directly through SSH, Remote Desktop, or other operating system tools without purchasing a panel license.

The service portfolio extends beyond server rental. The automated Domain Robot supports domain registrations, transfers, authorization codes, WHOIS operations, and management across more than 500 top-level domains. SSL certificates are available with several validation levels.

Plesk 360 Monitoring can supervise server resources, website availability, response times, and application errors. CloudLinux OS is available for customers building multi-user hosting environments that need individual CPU, memory, and process restrictions.

Security options include DDoS filtering, configurable firewalls, vulnerability assessment, and Acronis Cyber Protect licenses for malware, ransomware, malicious URLs, and infected files. Backup services are available through the wider Webtropia and WIIT infrastructure, including Acronis-based cloud backup products.

The reseller program covers both Servdiscount and Webtropia services. Resellers and agencies can receive individual assistance, while the customer referral program can generate account credit after a qualifying sale passes the required validation period.

The ordering platform supports German, English, Turkish, Dutch, Italian, and Russian. Product prices can appear in EUR, USD, TRY, or RUB, depending on the selected localization. English is available throughout the main ordering and service areas.
