NetZone AG is a long-established Swiss hosting company founded in 1997 and based in Schöftland, Aargau. This gives the company nearly three decades of experience in the Swiss hosting market. Founder Marcel Bösiger, MSc ETH Informatik Ing., remains CEO, while Claudia Lehmann serves as CFO and Rico Lehmann as CTO. The company maintains a comparatively small organizational structure, which fits its focus on direct Swiss hosting and infrastructure services rather than large-scale international mass-market hosting.

Its current portfolio includes Shared Hosting, Managed vServers, Domain Registration, DNS, Mail Hosting, Hosted Exchange, SSL certificates, Website Builder, SMS services and Reseller/Agent Hosting. The range is particularly suitable for individuals, businesses, web agencies and IT service providers that want hosting, domains and communication services managed through the same Swiss provider.

Shared hosting uses a distributed architecture in which web servers, databases, email, webmail and FTP services run on specialized systems rather than being concentrated on a single server. This separation improves service isolation and reduces the likelihood that a problem affecting one component will interfere with unrelated hosting functions.

The main performance-oriented hosting range consists of Economy Turbo, Business Turbo and Enterprise Turbo, with total storage capacities of 100 GB, 250 GB and 500 GB respectively. Storage is divided between website files, email and MySQL databases, while website data benefits from NVMe storage. Economy Turbo includes 70 GB for website data, 20 GB for email and 10 GB for MySQL, with the larger packages increasing these limits considerably.

Turbo hosting includes daily backups, redundant mail servers, application firewall protection, unlimited email accounts, unlimited databases, multiple websites, SSH access, SFTP, SCP, RSYNC, remote MySQL access, SSL certificates and application installation tools. Current PHP support extends from PHP 8.2 through PHP 8.5, accompanied by MySQL 5.7/8.0, Python and CGI support. HTTP/2 and TLS 1.2/1.3 are also supported.

A standard Economy package remains available with 75 GB of storage. NetZone additionally maintains Economy Past, designed for older websites that continue to depend on legacy PHP releases, including several PHP 5.x branches. This can be useful when an older application cannot immediately be migrated to a modern PHP environment, although such legacy environments are more appropriate as temporary compatibility solutions than as a long-term platform.

Email hosting is an important part of the service portfolio. Mail Economy includes 30 GB of storage, while Mail Business increases capacity to 60 GB. Both support unlimited email addresses, spam protection, malware filtering and redundant mail infrastructure.

Mail Business provides broader administration and delivery functionality, including IMAP, POP, webmail, autoresponders, mail relay and newsletter functions. Modern email-security technologies include SPF, DKIM, DMARC, SRS, greylisting and DANE.

Hosted Exchange is available in Light, Economy and Business editions. The service supports Microsoft Outlook integration, email, calendars, contacts, tasks, ActiveSync and browser-based access. The Business package provides an effectively unlimited mailbox allocation subject to practical system-performance limitations. The Exchange platform also uses Akamai IP acceleration technology.

Hosted Exchange operates on a specialized external Exchange cloud rather than the company's normal hosting infrastructure. Standard server placement is in Switzerland, while a Texas, USA location is also available.

The domain-registration service is considerably more complete than a basic domain add-on. NetZone is an ICANN-accredited registrar with IANA Registrar ID 2918. Registered domains include Domain PLUS, providing Anycast DNS, DNS management, DNSSEC and email and web forwarding. Existing domains can also be transferred into the same administration environment.

Special domain conditions are available for resellers and partners with larger domain portfolios. This makes the service useful for web agencies and IT companies managing domains for multiple customers.

Hosting customers also receive access to Website Butler, a browser-based website builder offering templates, responsive layouts, restore functionality and basic e-commerce capabilities. A more limited Light edition can also be used with domain services for customers needing only a simple web presence.

Security features cover automatically managed SSL certificates, application firewall protection, DNSSEC, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, SRS+, DANE and malware filtering. Access to individual email accounts can also be restricted according to country or IP address. CMS applications installed through the software installer can receive critical security updates automatically.

An SMS Gateway complements the hosting and communication portfolio. It supports a browser interface, HTTPS integration and Email-to-SMS/FAX functionality, making it suitable for applications that need automated messaging or notification delivery.

NetZone's Agent and Reseller Hosting model provides two different business arrangements. Agents can refer customers while NetZone handles invoicing and customer support, while the white-label reseller model allows the reseller to maintain direct customer relationships, issue invoices and provide first-level support. Domain registrations can also be processed in real time through the administration system.
