*📜 Plan description
Root-Server XXL is the highest standard model on the visible page and keeps the Ryzen 9 platform while expanding local NVMe capacity. It is billed at 179.99 EUR per month with a one-time setup fee of 3570.00 EUR. The machine uses an AMD Ryzen 9 7000-series processor with 12 cores and 24 threads at 3.8 GHz, 128 GB DDR5 ECC RAM and two 4 TB NVMe drives. For the storage field that means 8 TB raw total before the software RAID mirror context, while included monthly traffic remains 10 TB and the network uplink stays at 1 GBit/s.
This model is the strongest fit in the series for large local datasets, heavier application stacks, bigger game or community platforms, staging plus production on one box or storage-hungry self-managed services. Like the other root servers it includes one IPv4, IPv6 allocation, 100 GB backup space, self-service reboots and rescue mode, reinstall capability, resolver DNS access and business-oriented support backed by a 24x7 emergency line. The result is a high-capacity dedicated server based on owned German infrastructure, with the flexibility to stay Linux-focused or to move toward custom Windows installation when remote console tooling and licensing are arranged.
The entire root-server line is based on real physical hardware with no virtualization layer, hosted in manitu's fully owned data center in Germany directly at the company's site. The comparison pages add several infrastructure details that are valuable in practice: 4-fold geographically and logically redundant connectivity, more than 40 GBit/s aggregate bandwidth, an in-house IPv4 and IPv6 backbone, UPS protection, diesel generator backup, full air conditioning and 100 percent green electricity in a climate-neutral setup.
Operational tooling is more substantial than the short overview suggests. Each server includes an in-house customer menu for reboots, rescue systems, reinstallations and traffic statistics, plus 100 GB backup space reachable via FTP, FTPS and SFTP. One IPv4 address is included, IPv6 comes as one /64 per server and one /48 per customer, and DNS resolver usage is included. The data center availability figure is stated at more than 99.9 percent annual average with 24x7 monitoring. Support is available by phone and email during regular hours and by a dedicated 24x7 emergency phone service for root-server customers, while Windows can be installed using paid KVM-over-IP and the customer's own image and license. The range is restricted to business customers, billed monthly in advance, with a 12-month minimum term and 2-week cancellation period.

📄 Editorial Review
manitu is one of the more distinctive German hosting providers because they combine a long operating history with a very self-reliant infrastructure model. The company was founded on August 21, 1997, and today operates as manitu GmbH from St. Wendel, Germany. Their public image is strongly centered on technical independence, privacy, and hosting made in Germany. The entire business is built for the German market, the site is essentially German-only, and pricing is presented in EUR, usually with German VAT included.Their portfolio is focused and does not try to imitate the "everything cloud" style of larger global brands. The core lineup includes shared web hosting, WordPress hosting, Nextcloud hosting, ownCloud hosting, ClassicPress hosting, domain registration, SSL certificates, website builder tools, and dedicated root servers. A broad 1-click application library is part of the shared-hosting platform, so customers can deploy WordPress, Joomla, TYPO3, Shopware, Nextcloud, and other web applications without much manual work. That makes the platform suitable for small business sites, personal projects, agencies, and customers who want a German host with a stable classic hosting structure.
One important point is what they do not sell. manitu does not offer VPS / vServer plans, and they also do not offer managed servers in the usual sense. Their server business is built around real dedicated root servers rather than managed cloud instances or semi-managed virtual environments. That makes them more attractive to customers who either want straightforward shared hosting or full control over physical server hardware, but less attractive to buyers looking for a middle-ground VPS product.
The shared hosting range itself is mature rather than flashy. Plans scale from smaller entry packages to larger business-capable tiers with generous storage, included domains, email hosting, free SSL, daily backups, Linux-based hosting, and a strong application focus. WordPress and Nextcloud get dedicated positioning instead of being treated as mere add-ons. There is also an ecological angle throughout the brand, with hosting tied to renewable electricity and a long-running sustainability message that feels more deeply integrated than the usual marketing claim.
