Kinamo is an independent Belgian managed-services, cloud-infrastructure, web-hosting and software-development company established in 2003. The business originally operated under the Firstserved name before becoming Kinamo, a name derived from a Swahili word associated with flexibility. Kinamo NV/SA is headquartered in Antwerp and is led by CEO Dominique Quintelier.

The company operates as a compact technical specialist rather than a high-volume hosting group. Managed services are central to the company’s business. Kinamo designs, deploys and administers infrastructure hosted on its Belgian platform as well as environments using Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Every dedicated server is supplied as a managed service. Kinamo handles hardware maintenance, operating-system administration, monitoring and infrastructure support, while the customer retains control over its applications and data. This approach is more suitable for businesses that need operational assistance than for administrators searching for inexpensive unmanaged bare-metal servers.

Cloud servers are also customized. A deployment may use Kinamo Cloud, dedicated VMware infrastructure or an external hyperscale environment. Private-cloud systems run on resources reserved for one organization, while hybrid configurations distribute applications between private infrastructure and scalable public-cloud capacity.

High-availability designs can incorporate load balancing, failover, replicated databases, redundant storage, backup replication and container orchestration. There is no conventional low-cost VPS catalog with fixed CPU, RAM and storage packages. Cloud projects are aimed at organizations requiring architecture, management and ongoing technical responsibility rather than a self-managed virtual machine.

The shared-hosting range is more straightforward. Four annual plans are available: Seedling, Bonsai, Karri and Sequoia. Website storage ranges from 1 GB to 8 GB of SSD capacity, while email storage ranges from 2 GB to 15 GB. The quotas are conservative compared with mass-market unlimited packages, but they are adequate for professionally maintained company websites and smaller web applications.

All shared plans include daily website and database backups, restoration assistance, IMAP email, free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates, MySQL databases, selectable PHP versions and technical support. WordPress one-click installation begins with Bonsai. Karri adds SSH access, Git and Autogit deployment, and dedicated cron jobs. Sequoia adds dedicated Redis caching.

The hosting environment supports WordPress, Craft CMS, Grav and general PHP applications. PHP and PHP-FPM settings can be adjusted for individual websites, while account isolation, Opcache and Redis improve security and performance. The higher plans are particularly useful for developers who need command-line access, version-control deployment and scheduled tasks.

Kinamo Cloud Storage is a managed Nextcloud service with customer data stored in Europe. Personal subscriptions begin with 100 GB, while Business and Enterprise services support broader collaboration requirements. Features include desktop and mobile synchronization, browser access, password-protected sharing links, expiration dates, daily backups and optional AES-256 server-side encryption.

Two-factor authentication can be activated for individual users. Enterprise environments may also include single sign-on, Azure Active Directory integration, off-site backups and customized storage capacity.

Domain-registration services cover Belgian, European and international extensions. Domain accounts include management of A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and SRV records, URL forwarding, email forwarding and unlimited subdomains. Transfers and larger domain portfolios can be managed through the same customer account.

SSL certificates are available from GlobalSign and Sectigo. The range includes single-domain, wildcard, multi-domain, organization-validated and extended-validation certificates. Free Let’s Encrypt certificates already cover normal shared-hosting requirements, while commercial certificates suit organizations requiring stronger identity validation or assistance with certificate administration.

Email is included with shared hosting and can also be integrated into dedicated and cloud environments. Mailboxes support IMAP, POP3, authenticated SMTP and webmail, with messages filtered through Kinamo’s SecureMail antispam and antivirus gateway. Microsoft 365 and customized business-email solutions are available for organizations requiring broader collaboration tools.

Colocation is available for customers that own their server equipment. Kinamo supplies rack space, redundant connectivity, firewall services, IP addresses, bandwidth and infrastructure monitoring, while the customer remains responsible for its hardware and operating environment.

The company also works as a development agency. Its capabilities include WordPress and Craft CMS websites, e-commerce, API development, system integrations, streaming platforms, Elasticsearch, digital-asset management, mixed reality, augmented reality, virtual reality, interactive tours, user-experience design and custom business applications.
