Internic.ca is one of the longest-established names in the Canadian domain industry, operating since 1998. The company is headquartered in Ottawa and has built its business around Canadian domain registration, corporate domain management, web hosting, email and related Internet services. Internic became Canada's first accredited .CA registrar and handled the registration of the one-millionth .CA domain, giving it particularly deep roots in Canada's domain-name market.

Founder and chair Rob Hall has been associated with Internic since its early years, while Rob Villeneuve serves as CEO. Internic has long been connected with the Momentous group of Internet businesses, and the INTERNIC.CA trademark was transferred from Internic.ca Inc. to Momentous Ltd. in November 2022. Internic.ca Inc. continues to operate as the registrar and contractual service entity.

Domains remain one of the company's strongest areas. Customers can register and renew hundreds of generic and country-code extensions, transfer individual domains or complete transfers in bulk, manage DNS, perform WHOIS and RDAP queries and administer portfolios through the Domain Manager. Domain transfers normally extend the registration period by one year, while the Bulk Transfer and Transfer Manager tools make larger portfolios easier to handle.

Internic is particularly practical for businesses and professional customers managing numerous domains. Its domain-related services include domain brokerage, corporate portfolio management, bulk registration, portfolio monitoring and domain investing tools. Brokerage can assist with acquiring domains already registered by third parties, while larger organizations can work with account managers for renewals, billing, portfolio administration and domain acquisition opportunities.

Domain security services include Privacy Protection, Ownership Protection and Expiry Protection. Privacy Protection hides eligible registrant details from public registration records and is free during the first year before moving to its standard renewal charge. Ownership Protection adds additional identity verification before sensitive ownership or account changes. Expiry Protection can preserve a domain for an additional year when an expired payment method or billing issue would otherwise place the registration at risk.

The present hosting range focuses mainly on Shared Web Hosting and Managed WordPress. Shared plans use Plesk and range from a single-site Personal package with 20 GB of storage to a Business package supporting unlimited listed websites, 200 GB of disk space and unlimited listed email accounts. Free SSL, Imunify360 protection, daily backups, one-click applications, WordPress Toolkit and free hosting migration are included.

The hosting environment uses Plesk Obsidian, MariaDB 10.11.x, multiple PHP releases from 7.4 through 8.2+ and modern Node.js versions. phpMyAdmin is available for database management. Terminal SSH access is permanently disabled on the shared platform, which is an important limitation for developers who normally rely on command-line access.

Managed WordPress includes 20 GB SSD storage, one website, 100 email accounts, unlimited listed visitors, automatic WordPress core, plugin and theme updates, staging, deployment tools, daily backups, malware scanning and free migration. Elementor is included for visual website editing.

Managed WordPress Ecommerce increases storage to 100 GB SSD and adds WooCommerce, Stripe integration, WP Super Cache, Yoast SEO, Contact Form 7 and Elementor. Internic does not charge an additional transaction fee for WooCommerce sales, and the hosting package does not impose a product-count limit.

Website creation is integrated into the hosting environment through an AI Website Builder and Sitejet functionality in Plesk. Managed WordPress customers also receive Elementor. This allows less technical customers to choose between a conventional WordPress installation with a visual editor and a simpler site-builder workflow.

Free website migration is another useful inclusion. WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and standard HTML websites can be transferred together with compatible email data. Proprietary hosted platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and Weebly normally require manual reconstruction or content migration rather than a conventional server-to-server transfer.

The hosting portfolio has become more focused in recent years. VPS and dedicated server packages were discontinued in January 2026, and existing services were subsequently phased out. Older Classic Hosting and Professional or Classic Email systems are also legacy products, with current customers directed toward Plesk hosting, Managed WordPress and Cloud Email.

Email is available through several platforms. Internic Cloud Email is the main standalone mailbox service and comes in Basic, Productivity and Security+ editions. Basic includes 3 GB of email and cloud storage, premium webmail, synchronization, calendars, contacts, tasks and spam and virus filtering. Productivity increases storage to 10 GB and adds an online productivity suite, while Security+ provides 30 GB together with email and file encryption, signing, anti-phishing features and additional security controls. The service includes a 99.9% availability commitment and a 30-day trial.

Internic also offers Google Workspace for companies wanting Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Docs, Sheets and Google's other collaboration tools under their own domain. Migration assistance is available for moving existing email into the Google environment.

Security services extend beyond the free Let's Encrypt certificates included with hosting. Internic offers certificates from GlobalSign, including Alpha SSL, Domain SSL, Organization SSL and Extended SSL products. Additional website protection is available through SiteLock packages covering malware scanning, vulnerability monitoring and, on higher plans, automatic malware removal, CDN services, DDoS filtering and a web application firewall.

The separate SEO Tools service uses Marketgoo technology. It can audit a website, monitor as many as 15 keywords and four competitors, scan up to 1,000 pages, provide optimization tasks and reports, check mobile readiness and integrate with Google Analytics. It is primarily intended as a do-it-yourself SEO platform rather than a fully managed SEO consultancy.

The main service and support environment is English-language. Managed WordPress can of course be used to create multilingual websites, but Internic itself remains primarily oriented toward English-speaking Canadian customers. The current website is reasonably modern and mobile-oriented, although several older URLs remain accessible with legacy packages and outdated technical information. Current checkout information and current support documentation are therefore the most relevant reference points for active services.
