📄 Editorial Review

Filesharing.com is a free file-hosting and large-file-transfer service operated by KV GmbH (kv-gmbh.de), an owner-managed Internet company based in Osnabrück, Germany. KV GmbH was founded in 2011, with Martin Steinkamp serving as managing director. The company operates multiple Internet projects covering hosting, domains, file sharing and related online services.

Filesharing.com is not a conventional web-hosting provider. It does not provide shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, databases, PHP hosting environments or customer server administration. Its purpose is much simpler: users upload files, keep them temporarily online and share them with other people through download links.

A free account includes 1 GB of total storage. Up to 50 files can be included in a single upload, and multiple files can be delivered through one download link. A single large file can occupy the available storage capacity, making the service useful for documents, archives, photos and other files that are inconvenient to send as normal email attachments.

Storage is temporary. Files that have not been accessed for more than 30 days are automatically deleted, so Filesharing.com works best for short-term transfers rather than permanent cloud storage, backups or long-term document archiving.

Account access uses an email-based Magic-Login system instead of a traditional password. A login link is sent to the registered email address and remains valid for 60 minutes. Because this link provides account access during its validity period, it needs to be kept private in the same way as a password.

Servers used by the service are located within the European Union. Email addresses are kept private from unrelated third parties, while illegal content, explicit material and unauthorized copyrighted files are prohibited. Files can be removed and accounts suspended when the service is abused, and legally valid requests from authorities or rights holders can result in further action.

Filesharing.com operates in English and is aimed at an international audience. Its strength is simplicity rather than advanced collaboration or cloud-drive functionality. Users who only need to upload a file and give another person a download URL can do so without managing a complex storage platform.
