CMO Internet Dienstleistungen GmbH is a long-established German Internet and hosting provider with roots going back to 1994. The business began as Creative Media Factory, founded by Thorsten Norman Mitschele, and progressively moved into Internet services and hosting during the 1990s. CMO Internet Dienstleistungen GmbH was established in its current corporate form in July 1999. The company is headquartered in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, and has operated its own data center in Reutlingen since 2005.

CMO is considerably broader than a conventional shared hosting company. Its portfolio combines Shared Hosting, specialized e-commerce hosting, dedicated shop servers, Cloud Servers, application hosting, Microsoft SQL databases, online storage and backup, mail archiving, domains, SSL certificates, colocation, managed services, VPN/security solutions and customized IT infrastructure. The overall focus is strongly business-oriented, covering SMEs, online retailers, professionals and organizations requiring managed infrastructure rather than simple consumer hosting.

For general websites, FlatServer is the main shared hosting range. These plans are suitable for company websites, WordPress, Joomla, TYPO3, blogs, CMS installations and smaller online shops. They include SSD storage, MySQL databases, PHP 8.x, email accounts, spam and virus filtering, Webmail and one-click application installation. FlatServer Starter includes 20 GB SSD storage, 100 mailboxes and two MySQL databases, while Basic increases capacity to 40 GB and 500 mailboxes. FlatServer Pro provides 80 GB storage and up to 1,000 mailboxes.

A smaller Landingpage Hosting package is available for simple promotional websites and small projects. It combines a .de domain, SSL certificate, PHP, FTP access, DNS administration, an email mailbox and website statistics in a compact package.

E-commerce hosting is one of CMO's strongest areas. JTL-Shop Hosting is available on both SSD and NVMe infrastructure and includes a German domain, SSL certificate, MySQL databases, PHP 8.x, IPv4/IPv6 connectivity and daily database optimization. The hosting environment uses enterprise server hardware, Active/Active RAID storage and a dedicated 10 Gbit/s backup network.

Larger stores can move to a dedicated JTL-Shop Hosting Server, while Shopware customers have access to dedicated Shopware Shop Hosting Servers. These systems can be configured with different CPU, RAM and SSD/NVMe resources and include Ubuntu Linux, IPv4/IPv6 connectivity, DDoS protection, encrypted administration and daily server backups. Larger JTL installations can also be implemented as redundant HA systems, clusters or geo-redundant environments.

Database hosting includes Microsoft SQL Server Hosting, with Express and Standard editions available for applications requiring remote Microsoft SQL databases. This is particularly useful for software such as JTL-Wawi, CRM applications and other business systems that require SQL Server without maintaining an entire database server internally. Daily backup and traffic are included.

The cloud range consists of both Linux and Windows environments. Linux Cloud Server plans use Ubuntu Server and provide full root access, NVMe storage, IPv4/IPv6 connectivity, included traffic, DDoS protection and daily machine backups. Windows Cloud Server packages use Windows Server 2022 Standard and are suitable for Remote Desktop, terminal services, Active Directory, file services, databases and other Windows business applications.

CMO also maintains application-specific cloud platforms. These include JTL-Wawi/WawiCloud, CODE.3 ERP, LexCloud for Lexware, LexCloud Faktura + Auftrag, Amtangee CRM, Greyhound CRM, Hosted3CX telephone systems and MailStore email archiving. SelectLine cloud infrastructure also remains available, although CMO ended its SelectLine partnership in July 2026.

Hosted3CX combines a prepared Windows server environment with 3CX telephony, while MailStore cloud infrastructure provides centralized email archiving for organizations that need long-term, tamper-resistant and compliance-oriented storage.

Storage products include PowerDrive, which offers multi-protocol cloud storage from 100 GiB into multi-terabyte capacities. Customers with an active contract and verified postal address can also receive a complimentary 10 GiB PowerDrive account. Synology users can choose SynoStore cloud storage or place their own Synology NAS systems inside CMO's Reutlingen infrastructure through Synology Housing.

Additional services include browser-based Remote Desktop through WebRDP, USB dongle hosting for software license devices, managed server administration, infrastructure monitoring, VPN access, hosting migrations, software licensing, security services and professional IT helpdesk contracts.

Colocation is available for individual rack units, complete racks and specialized NAS systems. This makes CMO suitable not only for customers renting hosting infrastructure but also for companies that want to operate their own physical equipment inside a professionally managed German data center.

Domains can be registered or transferred with online DNS management, with more than one thousand domain extensions available. SSL/TLS certificates are also offered. The website is primarily available in German, while direct communication with the company can be handled in German or English. Services are priced in EUR (€) and most business prices are displayed excluding German VAT.
