*📜 Plan description

Let's Encrypt SSL is available without a certificate charge through the hosting control panel. It provides domain-validated HTTPS for one configured hostname and can be renewed through the hosting environment. It does not include a commercial certificate warranty or the branded assurance features supplied by paid certificate-authority products. The zero price covers the certificate itself; hosting service remains separately chargeable. Standard validation and correct DNS or web-server configuration are still required before issuance.

Certificate ordering includes domain-control validation and assistance with installation. Approval can be completed through an administrative email address or an HTML validation file, depending on the certificate and domain configuration. Certificates can be installed with Server Name Indication on a shared IP address, while a dedicated IP can be arranged for an additional charge when a legacy or specialized requirement makes it necessary. No dedicated IPv4 address is included in the certificate price. The certificate service is separate from hosting storage and monthly data transfer. Support is available through email, ticket helpdesk, and telephone contact around the clock. Payment is accepted by credit card or PayPal, prices are in USD, and no separately stated VAT or GST charge is included. Issuance time begins after successful validation and can vary when the certificate authority requests additional checks.

📄 Editorial Review

CiviHosting is a privately held American hosting company active since 2006, with a clear specialization in managed Linux hosting for open-source business and nonprofit applications. Rather than competing directly with mass-market budget hosts, they concentrate on applications that require more technical attention, particularly CiviCRM, MediaWiki, Nextcloud, ownCloud, Mautic, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, DokuWiki, and custom web applications.

Their strongest area is CiviCRM Hosting. CiviHosting can install CiviCRM, move an existing installation from another provider, configure the database, prepare scheduled tasks, secure the account with SSL, and assist with email-delivery settings. CiviCRM can run with WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or as a standalone installation, and the hosting environment is adjusted around its PHP, MariaDB/MySQL, cron, backup, and outbound-email requirements.

CiviHosting has a long-standing connection with the CiviCRM ecosystem and operates as an official CiviCRM partner. Hershel Robinson is associated with the company’s technical leadership and has participated in open-source hosting and application work for many years. This technical background is especially relevant for nonprofits, associations, membership organizations, advocacy groups, educational institutions, and other customers that depend on CiviCRM for contacts, contributions, memberships, events, campaigns, and mailings.

A free CiviCRM hosting assessment is available before migration or account activation. This helps determine whether an existing installation can run efficiently on shared hosting or requires a managed VPS. The assessment can cover application size, PHP compatibility, database usage, scheduled tasks, email delivery, storage, backup needs, and migration complexity.

The main Shared Hosting range consists of Regular, Extended, and Extended Plus. Regular includes 10 GB SSD storage and 500 GB monthly traffic, while Extended increases capacity to 100 GB SSD storage and 5,000 GB monthly traffic. Extended Plus provides 150 GB SSD storage, 10,000 GB monthly traffic, and support for up to five separate websites through the primary domain and four addon domains.

Shared accounts include email hosting, FTP access, MariaDB/MySQL databases, mailing lists, subdomains, SSH access, SSL, DNS management, and daily backups. The Regular account is suitable for a smaller website or application, while Extended offers substantially more storage and transfer capacity. Extended Plus is intended for more demanding shared-hosting projects that need higher CPU and database allowances without moving immediately to a VPS.

The Managed VPS range begins with Mini VPS and continues with Single VPS, Double VPS, and Extreme VPS. Mini VPS includes 2 dedicated CPU cores, 6 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD storage, and support for four separate hosting accounts. Larger configurations increase capacity to 10 dedicated CPU cores, 32 GB RAM, approximately 1 TB SSD storage, and as many as 24 hosting accounts.

All VPS packages remain fully managed. CiviHosting handles the operating environment, monitoring, backups, routine server maintenance, security work, and hosting control panel. SSH access is included, but customers do not normally receive unrestricted root control because the server remains under managed administration. Custom software and server-level adjustments can be requested when they are compatible with the platform.

Their MediaWiki Hosting service is another important part of the portfolio. It supports public wikis, private knowledge bases, company documentation, Semantic MediaWiki, VisualEditor, uploaded images, extensions, skins, and custom configurations. Migration work can include the wiki database, uploaded files, LocalSettings.php, extensions, skins, permissions, and application-specific settings.

Smaller MediaWiki and DokuWiki installations can run on shared hosting, while busy public wikis, large databases, Semantic MediaWiki systems, demanding extensions, and high upload volumes are better suited to a managed VPS. Other supported wiki platforms include DokuWiki, Wiki.js, XWiki, BlueSpice, Foswiki, and TiddlyWiki.

Nextcloud Hosting and ownCloud Hosting provide managed private-cloud environments for file synchronization, calendars, contacts, file sharing, and collaborative work. Installation and migration assistance are included, and suitable configurations can be prepared for office-document collaboration through Collabora Online. These services are useful for organizations that want more control over their files than a conventional third-party cloud-storage account provides.

Mautic Hosting covers installation, database preparation, scheduled tasks, email configuration, SSL, backups, migration, and managed server administration. Mautic can generate significant database, cron, and email workloads, so larger contact lists and active marketing campaigns may require Extended Plus or a managed VPS.

The Web Apps Hosting service is intended for Node.js projects and custom applications that do not fit traditional PHP shared hosting. These accounts include dedicated memory, persistent SSD storage, SSH access, SSL, backups, and managed hosting support. Applications requiring unusual server modules, long-running workers, extensive dedicated resources, or deeper operating-system access may need a VPS.

Standard PHP and database applications are also well supported. WordPress users receive installation tools, staging functionality, WP-CLI access, backup restoration, and SiteURL management. Drupal, Joomla, and other PHP/MariaDB applications can run within the same managed environment.

Professional work such as major CiviCRM upgrades, MediaWiki upgrades, extension troubleshooting, custom development, data restructuring, and complex application repair is separate from the normal hosting fee. This distinction is reasonable because hosting support covers the platform and common application-related issues, while development work may require many hours of specialist attention.

Domain registration and transfer services are available for extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us, .eu, .de, .uk, and .ca. Most registrations are processed through Enom. Customers can also purchase commercial certificates from Sectigo, RapidSSL, and GeoTrust, although SSL is already included with hosting accounts.

The portfolio remains focused on managed Linux shared hosting, application hosting, and VPS services. It is not designed around Windows hosting, unmanaged commodity servers, bare-metal dedicated servers, or conventional colocation. Agencies and consultants can host several independent accounts through a managed VPS or use the available bulk-account discounts.

The website and customer portal operate in English. Billing is available in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, and AUD, making the service accessible to customers outside the United States even though the company does not maintain multiple localized website versions.
