Jan 30, 2004 : IBM Unveils Hybrid Outsourcing Model

📅 - IBM (ibm.com) announced on Thursday that it has unveiled a new flexible IT service based on what it calls a "hybrid outsourcing model." Through the service, IBM will remotely automate, manage and support a customer's multi-platform data center while the customer retains ownership of all IT systems and personnel.

IBM says the more flexible support service, designed for customers that own and operate their own IT equipment, software and staff, helps customers improve the utilization and cost management of data center facilities.
In terms of the service's overall benefits, the company said that it will help clients become more "responsive, flexible, on demand businesses."
"Our on demand strategy is driving change in IBM," said Richard Horton, general manager of strategic outsourcing for IBM Global Services. "We are capturing the know-how we've built up from more than a decade of IT outsourcing experience, and combining it with new technology and a pipeline of innovation from IBM Research into new services that help clients transform their business."
The new flexible support service, available immediately, is part of IBM's Infrastructure Management offerings portfolio, an initiative to deliver IT automation technologies and services.
