Feb 3, 2004 : Comodo Expands Operations to Japan

📅 - Comodo (comodogroup.com), a provider of digital identity and Internet security solutions, has taken the next step in its international expansion strategy and launched a Japanese division, the company said on Monday.

The newly formed Japanese unit of Comodo follows the company's recent entry into the US market.
"During 2003 we successfully created significant awareness within the Japanese market for our fully validated digital certification products and services, and during 2004 we will see those needs addressed," said Steve Roylance, technical marketing director for Comodo. "As the fastest growing certificate authority in 2003, we attracted five percent of the global market to Comodo, success we will now build upon in the buoyant Japanese digital certificate market."
Roylance added that the Japanese market, which saw Linux sales jump last year by 37.5 percent to 2.6 billion Yen, is well positioned for Comodo's planned prodcut expansion that includes the Trustix (trustix.com) line of Linux-based security solutions it acquired last October.
Comodo Japan will be based in Tokyo. The company's headquarters are in Manchester, United Kingdom.
"Security threats to businesses in Japan are reported on a daily basis. Businesses under attack from viruses and hackers often suffer enormous losses. Comodo Japan is therefore very pleased to offer user-friendly, cost effective security solutions to the Japanese and Asian markets," said Takuji Akiyama, CEO of Comodo Japan Inc. (comodojapan.com)
