Feb 11, 2004 : Verio Europe Releases VPS Web Hosting
📅 - Verio Europe (verio.co.uk) announced today that it has launched version 2 of the NTT/VERIO virtual private server (VPS).
A VPS is a partitioned unit of a server that behaves and performs exactly like a standalone dedicated server.
The new offering, introduced to the US market in 2003, is being launched under Verio's SME hosting unit. The company said VPS version 2 answers the demands of SME customers and Verio's reseller partners working through the viaVerio channel program for next generation hosting solutions.
According to Verio Europe, the VPS delivers fair share partitioning technology for resource management, root access for dedicated server-like control and an open architecture platform allowing for improved compatibility and integration with other applications and systems.
"As the company that introduced virtual private server technology to the market place, Verio has put focused manpower behind this new offering to the small to medium business community and especially reseller partners serving this market," said David Ednie, vice president of SME hosting for Verio Europe. "Our new VPS product in Europe is an integral part of our offerings for small and medium enterprises as we continue to develop more solutions to answer customers' needs to make their jobs easier. The new capabilities help SME customers maximize their Web presence and build their business online."
Verio Europe said the VPS offering is ideal for SMEs who need a more powerful hosting solution but may not have the internal resources to manage it themselves.
"We designed this product to enable extensive customization, and this, along with the full access, control, security and flexibility, provides critical benefits to users," said Stacey Son, SME chief web architect at Verio. "The functionality of the VPS can readily be extended as businesses grow, and can be as basic or complex as the administrator needs it to be."
