Apr 8, 2004 : Appro Launches HyperBlade Mid-Cluster
📅 - Appro (appro.com), a developer of high-performance servers, announced this week the launch of its new HyperBlade mid-cluster, designed to work with a standard 19" rack cabinet. The company said a demonstration of the new product will take place this week at booth number 418 at ClusterWorld in San Jose, California.
The Appro HyperBlade mid-cluster supports up to 50 HyperBlade servers in a standard 42U cabinet. It contains five sub-racks with a capacity of ten servers each.
"Appro combines excellent engineering design, use of superior components and the latest in Intel and AMD multi-processor technology to deliver scalable clusters and supercomputing performance," says John Lee, director of product marketing for Appro.
Each blade is an independent server, with its own processors, memory, storage, network controllers, operating system and applications. HyperBlade blade servers run on both Linux and Windows platforms and include up to two processors: dual AMD Opteron, dual Intel Xeon, dual Intel Itanium 2 or single Intel Pentium 4. The servers support up to 16GB ECC, DDR memory, 500GB local storage and one PCI-X card slot.
Appro said the HyperBlade mid-cluster is ideal for customers who prefer the 19" rack cabinet but have concerns about space optimization in the data center.
