📅 - Internet security specialist FreeSSL (freessl.com) announced on Tuesday that it has launched a trade-up promotion, offering thawte (thawte.com) SSL server customers a free one-year RapidSSL certificate when they switch from thawte. RapidSSL includes a 128-bit single root install StarterSSL certificate with live installation support.
"Thawte customers have been flocking to FreeSSL.com to experience a faster, more automated issuance process for SSL certificates - at a significantly better price. And recent market share reports, such as Netcraft, bear out that thawte, and its parent company VeriSign, are losing ground against their competitors," says Paul Tourret, vice president of sales for FreeSSL.com. "We are so convinced that customers who use FreeSSL.com products will remain satisfied customers, that we are offering a free certificate to prove it. We want thawte customers to have a better alternative, and that's FreeSSL.com.? RapidSSL, launched in May, is priced at $99.00 for a one-year certificate. The company offers multi-year discounts on two- or three-year certificates.
