📅 August 16, 2004 - Web hosting provider Server Yard ( serveryard.com) announced on Monday that it will begin offering free Web hosting for Web developers. The program targets Web designers and developers in the hopes of gaining customers referrals for the sites they design.

Participants will get 1000MB of space and 50GB of bandwidth with a number of extra features at no added cost. Additionally, they will receive commissions for every customer they refer to Server Yard.
The company also announced the release of a highly discounted reseller plan specifically geared towards Web designers and developers, targeted to those Web developers who prefer to host their own customers.
"It's a win-win situation. The Web developers will be able to offer their clients a package complete with Web development and Web hosting. As a result, they'll derive long-term profits from their customers instead of receiving a one-time payment. In turn, they'll drive more business our way," said Simon Macharia, customer relations manager with the company.
