Nov 8, 2004 : Web Hosting Firms Launch Toy Drive

📅 November 8, 2004 - Web hosting providers OKIHost (okihost.com -> hostinger.com), DWC Network (dwcnetwork.com) and PixelSlot Web Studio (pixelslot.com) announced last week that they have launched the first annual Web Hosting Toy Drive (whtoydrive.com) to raise money for holiday charities. The proceeds will be used to purchase toys that will be donated to the US Marine's Toys for Tots program. All remaining funds will be donated to other charities.

"The goal of the drive is to unite everyone in the hosting and design community so that we can provide toys for those which are not fortunate enough to have the funding to be able to provide toys for their children," says Paul Mowery of OKIHost, founder of the Web Hosting Toy Drive.
The idea for the Toy Drive originated on the Webhostingtalk.com (webhostingtalk.com) forum, but is now being extended to the entire Web hosting industry.
All donors will be listed on the official Web site of the drive.
"Hopefully with the recognition we intend to give donors they will see this as both an opportunity to promote their company and to support those who are less fortunate. In the end the kids will win," says Danny Garon of DWC Network, co-founder of the Web Hosting Toy Drive.

📅 Nov 5, 2004 - Helm Flaw Quickly Repaired - WebHost Automation (webhostautomation.com), developer of the Helm Web hosting control panel, said on Friday that the vulnerabilities in the Helm control panel reported on Wednesday by security organization Secunia (secunia.com), have already been fixed. Mark Hall, founder and chief operating officer of WebHost Automation, told the Web Host Industry Review that the flaws were fixed even before the report by Secunia was published.
