Feb 21, 2005 : VERITAS, IBM Offer Linux Bundles

📅 February 21, 2005 - Storage software developer VERITAS (veritas.com) announced on Monday that it is prepared to ship Linux solution bundles powered by VERITAS Software and IBM (ibm.com) eServer xSeries systems. Avnet Partner Solutions (avnet.com),a distributor and provider of enterprise servers, storage, software andservices, will distribute the bundles through its IBM Business Partnerchannel.

The bundles, based on IBM eServer xSeriesIntel processor-based servers running Linux, include VERITAS ClusterServer, VERITAS Storage Foundation, and VERITAS Storage Foundation forOracle RAC software products.

VERITAS said the bundles increase theperformance, availability and manageability of Linux-powered enterpriseenvironments, and streamline the cost of file system management, whileoptimizing availability for data and applications.

"As Linux becomes increasingly viable forthe enterprise, more and more customers are considering it as a strongalternative based on price and performance. We are excited to be ableto offer resellers enterprise-ready Linux solutions based on VERITASsoftware and IBM xSeries hardware," says Tony Madden, senior vicepresident of sales, Avnet Partner Solutions, IBM Americas. VERITAS recently merged with security software developer Symantec.
