Apr, 2001 : Sun completes acquisition of HighGround Systems
📅 - Computer manufacturing giant Sun Microsystems Inc. (sun.com) announced on Monday that it had completed its acquisition of HighGround Systems Inc., a leading provider of storage resource management solutions for storage network environments.
Sun says the acquisition of HighGround, combined with its planned purchase of LSC Inc., are key components in its strategy to take a leading role in the emerging market for storage resource management. According to Sun, the company is aggressively working to increase its collection of product offerings, despite the changing US economy. Sun acquired HighGround in a stock for stock trade. And following the close of the deal, HighGround is set to become part of Sun's network storage organization. HighGround's products are already available from Sun, part of what the company calls its commitment to uninterrupted product delivery. Sun is a major force in the storage market, and intends to be one of the companies leading movement toward open storage networks. The acquisition of HighGround will allow Sun to offer new storage management tools and solutions.
