📅 - Azul Systems (azulsystems.com) announced this week that it had introduced the Azul Compute Appliance, a system targeted at virtual machine-based applications such as those using Java or Microsoft .NET. Azul says its network-attached appliances can form compute pools that enable tens to hundreds of applications to share a common managed resource. This enables them to eliminate capacity planning at the application level, reduce the number of servers required to build out data centers, and simplify management. All of this can be done without any application-level modifications, binary compatibility requirements or operating system dependencies. "Extensively tested, incredible ROI, excellent service, and a no-cost evaluation program - that's an unbeatable combination," says Stephen DeWitt, president and CEO of Azul Systems. "Network attached processing is here. It is simple to use, simple to deploy, and it will change the way we think about compute capacity." The Azul Compute Appliance integrates with IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic platforms as well as JBoss and other open source J2EE platforms.
