📅 April 25, 2005 - Data center automation software developer Opsware (opsware.com) announced on Thursday that it would provide automated management capabilities for AMD (amd.com) Opteron systems through a newly established partnership. The company says its automation capabilities will decrease the total cost of ownership for AMD Opteron-based servers.
"AMD's dual-core technology is at the forefront of its industry, enabling IT organizations to benefit from faster, high-performance computing power," says Tim Howes, CTO of Opsware. "Using Opsware to automate the management of AMD Opteron processor-based systems allows enterprises to begin realizing the benefits of utility computing including reduced TCO, operational agility and improved productivity." Opsware's Server Automation System 5 provides support for AMD Opteron processor-based systems and provisions both 32- and 64-bit operating systems. It also managers the complete lifecycle management of the entire software stack on AMD Opteron processor-based servers. "Opsware automation is an excellent complement to AMD Opteron processor-based systems, enabling IT organizations to further leverage their hardware and software investments by providing the highest levels of efficiency and performance," says Pat Patla, director of server and workstation marketing for the microprocessor solutions sector at AMD.
