📅 - Limelight Networks (limelightnetworks.com) has selected Avici Systems's (avici.com) SSR and TSR core routers for deployment in its content delivery network, the companies announced on Tuesday.
Limelight says its alliance with Avici gives it industry-leading performance over its 'WAN-core,' the fiber-based carrier network infrastructure between its media distribution centers. It chose Avici routers because of their ability to support real-time high-bandwidth media and entertainment delivery to large audiences via the Internet, and its ability to scale and accommodate a rapidly growing customer base, the company says.
"The Avici WAN-core solution delivers a compelling new model that provides Limelight with a key competitive advantage by bringing together the perfect mix of high performance, reliability, and scale to our customers at unprecedented price points," says Nathan Raciborski, chief network architect of Limelight Networks.
Limelight is also using Avici's Composite Links and aggregate links to help accommodate high-bandwidth applications and improve network utilization without service disruption or provisioning.
