Jan 19, 2006 : Blue Security Updates Registry Software

📅 - Blue Security (bluesecurity.com) said on Wednesday that its Blue Frog software had been updated to allow users of popular Web-based email applications such as Hotmail or Gmail to automatically report spam from their accounts.
Blue Frog is a downloadable software application that automatically posts complaints about spammers. The software is part of Blue Security's Do Not Intrude Registry, a free service that helps business and consumers avoid spam. The registry operates like the national do not call registry, empowering users to exercise their right to not receive spam, protected by the CAN-SPAM act. "Webmail users have never had appropriate protection from the increasing threats of unsolicited email messages," says Eran Reshef, founder and CEO of Blue Security. "Spam filters are not enough. For the first time, Blue Frog allows Web mail users to actively fight spam by automatically reporting the messages from their Web mail application, without the fear of exposing themselves to further solicitation or retribution." The Do Not Intrude Registry has registered nearly 100,000 email addresses since its launch last summer. Preliminary reports indicate that users are receiving less spam, the company says.
