Feb 8, 2006 : WebServUSB Makes Pocket Web Server

📅 - Hardware manufacturer WebServUSB (webservusb.com) announced this week that it has launched a fully featured Web server built on a USB flash memory stick, starting at a price of $89.

The company says the Web server can be plugged directly into a laptop or desktop PC, and can be set up and serving Web pages in as little as two minutes. Using a dynamic DNS service can enable the server to be moved between computers without changing domains or settings.

The device includes a user database that can connect users to both HTTP and FTP services, independent of the user accounts on the PC to which the server is connected.

According to WebServUSB, the Web server handles CGI scripts, Perl, PHP, MySQL, Flash, RealMedia and Windows Media. Settings remain on the device, enabling a Web site to be completely portable. The device also allows Web-based administration.

The USB Web Server is priced at $89.95 for a 128MB version and $399.95 for a 1GB version.
