📅 - Dedicated Web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies (softlayer.com👉 Total Reviews: 2 🙌 Average Rating: 1 / 10 👍 Good Reviews: 0 👎 Bad Reviews: 2 👈 Official Responses: 0 -> ibm.com) announced on Monday that the company has developed key partnerships with Microsoft, Red Hat and SWsoft.
SoftLayer has become a registered member of the Microsoft SPLA program and the Red Hat Hosting program, which together provide the company with access to a large suite of software services.
The company is also using SWsoft's server virtualization software, virtuozzo, and hosting control panel Plesk 7.5 Reloaded.
"Delivering enterprise quality of service requires utilizing enterprise operating systems and applications," says Sean Charnock, vice president of business development at SoftLayer. "These new partnership agreements are exciting because they align our product with industry-leading vendors and bring tremendous value to our customer base."

📅 - Virtuozzo Has New CEO - George Karidis, a veteran of the web hosting industry, has been named the new CEO of Virtuozzo. Karidis has been a familiar face in the industry for sometime. Before joining Virtuozzo on Tuesday, Kardis was president of Cloud Technology Services at CompuCom, served as chief strategy officer and chief operating officer at SoftLayer, and also worked with IBM.
“I knew a lot of the team already, and they were a big partner when I was at SoftLayer,” Kardis recently said in an interview. He is replacing interim CEO Mike Riolo, SVP Worldwide Sales who has been filling the role ever since Rob Lovell left Virtuozzo in the summer.

📅 - US Lifts Sanctions, while IBM Softlayer Blocks Services - IBM SoftLayer recently blocked all IPs coming from Iran. This was found in a report by VentureBeat and the ban impacts customers, such as Cafe Bazaar and Elix-Tech.

The existing compliance process for foreign countries at IBM states that IBM must block services in countries and territories not complying with standard outlined procedures. The process also states that services will be unblocked if the content isn't banned under current sanctions.
