IBM Softlayer Blocks Services in Iran After U.S. Sanctions Lift

📅 February 11, 2016 - IBM SoftLayer, a major player in the cloud data storage industry, has blocked all Iranian IPs from accessing the services.

The existing compliance process for foreign countries at IBM states that IBM must block services in countries and territories not complying with standard outlined procedures. The process also states that services will be unblocked if the content isn't banned under current sanctions.

“I knew a lot of the team already, and they were a big partner when I was at SoftLayer,” Kardis recently said in an interview. He is replacing interim CEO Mike Riolo, SVP Worldwide Sales who has been filling the role ever since Rob Lovell left Virtuozzo in the summer.
