May 5, 2006 : CRG West Launches Any2 Packet

📅 - CRG West (crgwest.com), an operating partner of The Carlyle Group, announced on Thursday that it has launched its Any2 Packet Exchange as a facility utility within the One Wilshire building in Los Angeles and Market Post Tower in San Jose.

The Any2 exchange acts as a high performance Internet packet exchange service for Internet service providers and voice over Internet protocol tenants operating from both One Wilshire and Market Post Tower.

"In a packet environment the same wires carry virtually any type of intelligence or data," says John Savageau, senior VP of operations for CRG West. "With One Wilshire among the primary distribution points in the world for telecommunications interconnection and network-based services it was natural for us to take the first steps in restructuring many of our utility services offered at One Wilshire and Market Post Tower."

Participants in Any2 may interconnect with any other participant at 100Mbps or 1Gbps, using either copper or fiber. Any2 facilitates customer public peering relationships through connection to the Any2 Ethernet-based switching fabric. Additionally, users can subscribe to one or more virtual LANs, allowing additional flexibility in establishing interconnection relationships.
