Sep 19, 2006 : XRamp Hosts Certificate Forum

📅 - Digital certificate authority XRamp Security Services (xramp.com) announced on Monday it would host the sixth International Certificate Authority Browser Forum in San Antonio, Texas on September 20 and 21.

The closed meeting will involve participants in the security and browser industry where the final guidelines will be determined regarding Extended Validation Certificates to secure Internet Web site commerce. XRamp will join other industry members to focus on how EV Certificates can help prevent the growth of phishing, such as the address bars of Web browsers turning green upon visiting a secured site.

The guidelines detail the minimum criteria a CA must have in order to issue Extended Validation Certificates. Organization information from valid EV Certificates may be uniquely displayed by browsers to give users a trustworthy confirmation of the identity of the entity that owns or controls the Web site they are accessing.

"For the past year XRamp has participated diligently with the CAB Forum in working on a standardized vetting process for CAs across the different Web browsers," says Scott Harris, president of XRamp. "The group has made tremendous progress and we are optimistic that we are about to enter a new age of security which will help ensure a safe browsing experience and the continued growth of commerce on the Internet."
