📅 September 18, 2006 - Web hosting provider Canadian Web Hosting (canadianwebhosting.com ) announced on Monday it has deployed TippingPoint (tippingpoint.com) Intrusion Prevention System to protect its servers.

TippingPoint inspects every packet to determine if it is legitimate or malicious, making it useful in blocking attacks from reaching their targets. TippingPoint IPS protects VoIP infrastructure, routers, switches, DNS and other critical infrastructure from targeted attacks and traffic irregularity.

"TippingPoint has enabled us to deliver a better uptime for our customers," says Alex Zarud, senior system administrator. "There was no longer a need to monitor the servers for 'exploitable processes' since TippingPoint blocks all these attacks."

TippingPoint says its Digital Vaccine Service adds new filters that guard against the latest vulnerabilities, with each filter acting as a virtual software patch created within the network to protect downstream hosts from attack. TippingPoint detects and blocks any malicious traffic intended to exploit a particular vulnerability, including Slammer-Sapphire Worm, PHP Code Injection, PHP File Include Vulnerability, ASN.1 Bitstring Processing Heap Overflow and Nimda Attacks.
