New Incoming Cybersecurity Regulations in New York Being Revised for Financial Institutions
📅 - Banks and insurance companies were given a January 1 deadline for complying with new cybersecurity rules in New York. However, this deadline has been delayed until March 1, 2017. The New York State Department of Financial Services announced revisions to the Cybersecurity Requirements for Financial Service Companies last Wednesday, along with the new deadline.
The original regulations were announced in September of 2016. Since the announcement, banks and insurance companies have been seeking an extension. These new rules have taken more than a year to be created and put into effect.
