Dec, 2016 : Facebook Buying Offline User Data to Improve Ad Targeting


📅 - Facebook is now buying offline user data to improve ad targeting efforts, according to representatives from the company. Facebook is the number two data collecting organization (Google is number 1), but as it turns out, the user data we all post on Facebook isn't enough to accurately target ads to users. That's why Facebook is going offline in its quest to learn all there is to know about their audience.

Currently, Facebook is working with 6 data partners to collect information on users: Transunion, WPP, Oracle, Experian, Epsilon, and Acxiom. This primarily allows them to collect financial data and credit score information.
