📅 - Facebook has been accused of misleading European Union watchdogs in 2014, while the company sought approval to buy the popular WhatsApp messaging service. The EU's antitrust authority suspects that Facebook gave “incorrect or misleading information” about linking data with WhatsApp two years ago .
Margrethe Vestager the EU Competition Commissioner is investigating the situation.
“These are serious allegatons. If Facebook provided misleading information about its ability to match Facebook and WhatsApp accounts it basically blocked the commission from checking the implications of data of this merger. This s unacceptable and sheds a bad light on the company's readiness to respect consumers' privacy,” said Agustin Reyna of BEUC, a European consumer advocate group.

📅 - $560 Million in Funding Created in Canada for Rural Broadband Expansion - The communications regulator in Canada has announce a C$750 million or $560 million in funding for companies, such as Telus Corp., BCE Inc. and Rogers Communications Inc. can use to help subsidize high-speed internet projects found in rural areas of the country.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission believes broadband internet is a basic service and should be available across the country. The new funding will be distributed over about five years to applications from telecommunications carriers.

📅 - First Major Judgement of Brexit Era for Internet Spying Powers Against Britain - Recently, the European Union's top court passed the first major judgement after Brexit. It was against Britain saying the U.K. forcing telecommunications companies to hold onto data from customers for a full year goes against the bloc's laws.
Now, the suit will go back to the U.K. Court of Appeal for the final ruling. In October, a special U.K. tribunal ruled that spy agencies were not complying with human rights law until November 2015. ...

Companies, such as Google and Microsoft have created their own data centers in Singapore, along with leasing space. LinkedIn, Facebook and other social networks also lease space on the island.
These companies are looking for large multi-megawatt data centers they can lease and drive more demand with. This is similar to the way large cloud companies look for data centers in other locations, such as Dallas, Dublin and Chicago.
