NSA and FBI Believe They Will Gain More Surveillance Power Under Trump


📅 - Expanded surveillance power will likely be given to the FBI, NSA and CIA under President-elect Donald Trump. The Republican-controlled Congress will help this happen and privacy advocates have already started creating an opposition.

Both Senator Jeff Sessions and Republican Representative Mike Pompeo are advocates for government spying and these are the two choices Trump has offered to head law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Some believe the United States may see worse government spying than what was seen after September 11, 2001.

Trump asked for a boycott of Apple Inc. because the company didn't help the FBI hack into iPhones of terrorists. Some even believe the changes made after Edward Snowden came forward in 2013 could be reversed. Telephone records, content of emails and other internet activity may be collected by the FBI and NSA once again.
