Nov, 2016 : SpaceX Plans to Beam Internet from Space


📅 - SpaceX, the private rocket firm, has recently applied for the government's permission to launch satellites to beam broadband internet access around the globe. In the papers filed to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), SpaceX details a plan to launch 4,425 satellites orbiting at altitudes spanning from 714 to 823 miles, to create a global spanning network.

In a recent statement, the firm said, “Once fully deployed, the SpaceX system will pass over virtually all parts of the Earth's surface and therefore, in principal, have the ability to provide ubiquitous global service.”
