United States Very Concerned About the Russian Block of LinkedIn
📅 - After a Russian court ruled that LinkedIn had broken local data storage laws, they banned it across the country. This marked the first blocking of any social media site in the country and as of Friday, users in Russia will start to lose access. They have also threatened to block Facebook and other social media sites in the past, but haven't followed through.
The US embassy in Moscow has shown concern for the blocking of LinkedIn. They have called on Russia to restore access. Some believe the blocking of LinkedIn is a warning to Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to follow the 2014 federal law stating that internet companies processing any personal data from Russian citizens must use servers in Russia to store the information.
