📅 - Largest Wind-Power Deal Signed by Microsoft for Wyoming Data Center - Microsoft recently announced the largest wind-power purchase when they made a deal to buy 237 megawatts of capacity in Kansas and Wyoming. The two projects providing the power are Black Hills Corporation's Happy Jack and Silver Sage wind farms in Wyoming and Allianz Risk Transfer AG's Bloom Wind Project in Kansas.
Along with the wind power, Microsoft made new arrangements with Black Hill's utility in Wyoming. These arrangements will provide backup generators for the data center as a secondary source of power. This allows the utility to avoid needing to build a new power plant.

Global internet freedom has declined again for the sixth year in a row, according to Freedom House, a U.S. watchdog organization.
The report called Silencing the Messenger: Communications Apps Under Pressure provides a look at this issue by showing that 38 countries contained people arrested due to social media posts last year. 📅 - Deutsche Telekom is Out of the Running for Host Europe Group - Host Europe Group is up for sale and Deutsche Telekom has dropped out of the bidding, according to a report from Reuters. Cinven, HEG's private equity company, started looking for a buyer in April and Deutsche Telekom was supposed to be one of the top contenders.
Due to the valuation of $1.8 billion, the telecommunications company decided they didn't want to pursue the purchase any further. They believed it would be difficult to integrate HEG into their existing business and there wasn't enough growth prospects.
