Largest Wind-Power Deal Signed by Microsoft for Wyoming Data Center

📅 - Microsoft recently announced the largest wind-power purchase when they made a deal to buy 237 megawatts of capacity in Kansas and Wyoming. The two projects providing the power are Black Hills Corporation's Happy Jack and Silver Sage wind farms in Wyoming and Allianz Risk Transfer AG's Bloom Wind Project in Kansas.

Along with the wind power, Microsoft made new arrangements with Black Hill's utility in Wyoming. These arrangements will provide backup generators for the data center as a secondary source of power. This allows the utility to avoid needing to build a new power plant.
