New Relic Infrastructure Launches to Give Cloud Performance Insights

📅 November 15, 2016 - New Relic has two announcements: A new Digital Intelligence Platform and Infrastructure, both of which will allow businesses to have better insights, full-stack visibility, and analytics “at any scale.” The newly launched New Relic Infrastructure will provide additional visibility of cloud and hybrid infrastructure performance.

With the insights and information available from the platform, teams will be able to work together more cohesively when resolving issues. It will also be helpful for “…improving customer experiences by giving each team member the same end-to-end view into applications and supporting infrastructure,” according to the New Relic team.

Jim Gochee, CPO at New Relic, said in a statement:

“To be a successful digital business today, you need to optimize for change and effectively manage complexity. Teams must have a single source of truth to be aligned, quickly fix things when they break, and strategically understand their digital business. The New Relic Digital Intelligence Platform is the unified source for everyone in the business to have full-stack visibility, draw actionable, real-time insights from their digital business, and scale as their business grows.”

📅 Nov 14, 2016 - Courts in Russia ban LinkedIn with Twitter and Facebook Possibly Following - The business social network LinkedIn was recently banned by a Russian court. This was done due to the fear of data security within the country. This was done with amendments to the Personal Data Laws in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin also banned government offices in the country from using Microsoft products. He's afraid these products may lead to a data security issue.

Microsoft owns LinkedIn, which is the reason for the ban. Only about five million users are found in Russian. The courts also threatened to ban any companies storing data of Russian citizens on servers not Russian-owned and located within the country. This could impact Twitter and Facebook, as well.

📅 Nov 11, 2016 - 90 Percent of Data Center Traffic Will be Cloud by 2020 - By the year 2020, cloud data center traffic will cross the 14 zettabytes. That is a huge increase, 262 percent, from 2015. This information comes from the Cisco Global Cloud Index, which was released Thursday. The report also projects that 92 percent of all workloads being processed in the cloud by 2020.

Cisco reports that a majority of the workloads processed will flip from private to public cloud this year. With the public cloud growth continuing by 35 percent.

📅 Nov 15, 2016 - Largest Wind-Power Deal Signed by Microsoft for Wyoming Data Center - Microsoft recently announced the largest wind-power purchase when they made a deal to buy 237 megawatts of capacity in Kansas and Wyoming. The two projects providing the power are Black Hills Corporation's Happy Jack and Silver Sage wind farms in Wyoming and Allianz Risk Transfer AG's Bloom Wind Project in Kansas.

Along with the wind power, Microsoft made new arrangements with Black Hill's utility in Wyoming. These arrangements will provide backup generators for the data center as a secondary source of power. This allows the utility to avoid needing to build a new power plant.
