📅 - Following the historic election of Donald Trump, U.S. officals have pledged their continued commitment to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. The agreement is a trans-Atlantic data transfer pact which companies spanning the globe rely on.
“We have a real expectation that a new administration would come in and follow through on what's been done,” Ted Dean, the deputy assistant secretary for services at the U.S. Department of Commerce said on Wednesday. He also added, “This whole program was built with very significant ongoing interaction between U.S. and European Commission and data protection authorities.”

📅 - Mobile Broadband will get a Boost from EU by 2022 - The European Union has approved plans to complete a rollout of 700 MHz wireless broadband service by 2022. This will help to improve the speeds within the area, along with provide better availability of mobile internet services.
EU member states will allocate 694-790 MHz band to wireless broadband for use by the last day of June in 2020. There will be extensions for as much as two years to deal with complications from any neighbors not in the EU. ...
📅 - Stocks Rally, But Many Tech Stocks Left Out of Rally - After the election of Donald Trump, the stock market bounced back in every sector benefiting from a larger economy, except for technology. Stocks in the computer and software areas suffered losses and were a part of the FANG block, which stands for Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google.
Each of the FANG stocks dropped by at least 1.9% and the Nasdaq 100 dropped by 1.6%, which is the most since September 9th.
Some are concerned with the possibility of policies from Trump on overseas trade, which is one area US technology companies thrive. However, others don't think it's about the election, considering the group has surged by about 11% in 2016.

📅 - Major Stake of United Internet to be Sold - United Internet has announced they will sell a major stake in their web hosting business, which is headquartered in Montabaur, Germany. The company is a major player with many global brands including WEB.DE, GMX, 1&1, Arsys, Fasthosts and mail.com. The total number of customers tops 16 million combined.
The deal is reportedly worth $497 million, which is the price Warburg Pincus has agreed to pay. Warburg Pincus is headquartered in New York City and was established in 1966. They also have a presence in Brazil, India, China and Europe. They will acquire a 33% stake in United Internet's Business Applications Unit.

📅 - 90 Percent of Data Center Traffic Will be Cloud by 2020 - By the year 2020, cloud data center traffic will cross the 14 zettabytes. That is a huge increase, 262 percent, from 2015. This information comes from the Cisco Global Cloud Index, which was released Thursday. The report also projects that 92 percent of all workloads being processed in the cloud by 2020.
Cisco reports that a majority of the workloads processed will flip from private to public cloud this year. With the public cloud growth continuing by 35 percent.
