📅 - The European Union has approved plans to complete a rollout of 700 MHz wireless broadband service by 2022. This will help to improve the speeds within the area, along with provide better availability of mobile internet services.
EU member states will allocate 694-790 MHz band to wireless broadband for use by the last day of June in 2020. There will be extensions for as much as two years to deal with complications from any neighbors not in the EU.

📅 - Virtuozzo Has New CEO - George Karidis, a veteran of the web hosting industry, has been named the new CEO of Virtuozzo. Karidis has been a familiar face in the industry for sometime. Before joining Virtuozzo on Tuesday, Kardis was president of Cloud Technology Services at CompuCom, served as chief strategy officer and chief operating officer at SoftLayer, and also worked with IBM.
“I knew a lot of the team already, and they were a big partner when I was at SoftLayer,” Kardis recently said in an interview. He is replacing interim CEO Mike Riolo, SVP Worldwide Sales who has been filling the role ever since Rob Lovell left Virtuozzo in the summer.

📅 - Google Cloud Platform Rapidly Expanding Regions - Google Cloud Platform (GCP) recently launched its new Asia-Northeast region from Tokyo to give the company more traction in the Asian market. The new region increases GCP's presence to two regions and six zones in Asia. That's not including the planned expansions for the Asian market in Mumbai, Singapore, and Sydney still to come next year.
Google's expansion plans also include new regions in the United States, Finland, Germany, UK, and Brazil. With six regions and 18 zones available currently, Google is planning to reach 14 regions and close to 40 zones at the end of next year.

📅 - Kubernetes Support from Microsoft Azure Extended - Recently, Microsoft Azure has announced the extension of Kubernetes Support, the Mesosphere Datacenter Operating System and Docker Swarm. Updates will be rolled out and a preview release of Kubernetes 1.4 was shown off at KubeCon.

📅 - Russian Hackers Target U.S. Think Tanks - American think tanks are now being targeted by Russian hackers in a spearphishing campaign following the recent historic election. Spearphishing is a fake email technique that tricks the victim into giving the hackers total access to their computer and data. The fake emails are claiming to be related to Tuesday's vote. John Podesta, the Clinton camapign's chief of staff, was recently a victim of spearphishing and had his emails leaked recently.
The attacks are being blamed on Russian hackers known as COZY BEAR or APT29. These same hackers are being blamed for the Democratic National Committee hack and the following leaks.

📅 - Trump Victory Will Not Threaten EU Privacy Shield Agreement - Following the historic election of Donald Trump, U.S. officals have pledged their continued commitment to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. The agreement is a trans-Atlantic data transfer pact which companies spanning the globe rely on.
“We have a real expectation that a new administration would come in and follow through on what's been done,” Ted Dean, the deputy assistant secretary for services at the U.S. Department of Commerce said on Wednesday. He also added, “This whole program was built with very significant ongoing interaction between U.S. and European Commission and data protection authorities.”
