📅 - Telstra, a telecommunications company from Australia, recently acquired the software developer Readify, according to Monday's announcement. Readify has been providing services to Microsoft for products like SharePoint, Office 365, and more. The company has received a host of awards from Microsoft.
Readify builds apps for customers and has had a hand in some of the largest Azure implementations in Australia. Terms of the acquisition have not yet been disclosed.

📅 - NRDC Says Most of the World’s Data Centers Are ‘Small, Single-User Enterprise Facilities’ - The U.S. activist group Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) was challenged on their stance about data center energy usage when the U.S. government released a conflicting report on energy consumption nationwide in 2014. The Department of Energy (DOE) found that the NRDC 2014 report on data center energy consumption was inaccurate and ‘grossly overstated the amount of energy the industry consumes.'

📅 - NRDC States They were Off on Data Center Energy Estimates - The Natural Resources Defense Council, a well-known United States activist group, has recently admitted they were off on the 2014 estimates for data center energy consumption. The government stated that the data centers in the US used about 70 billion kilowatt-hours of energy in 2014, which was about 6.4 billion less than what the NRDC estimates for 2011 and about 21 billion less than they estimated for 2013.

📅 - European Union Approves First Rules on Cybersecurity - The first post-Safe Harbor rules on cybersecurity have been approved by the European Union. The European Parliament endorsed the legislation that would require service operators in various industries – including banking, transportation, energy, and health – and digital operators like search engines to comply with new security and reporting measures.
One piece of the legislation details that companies like Google and Amazon will be forced to report any attacks they receive and strengthen their cyber defense against such attacks.
