One piece of the legislation details that companies like Google and Amazon will be forced to report any attacks they receive and strengthen their cyber defense against such attacks.

“The law, voted through on Wednesday in Strasbourg, France, also requires EU national governments to cooperate among themselves in the field of network security.”

📅 Jul 6, 2016 - Telstra Acquires Microsoft Service Provider Readify - Telstra, a telecommunications company from Australia, recently acquired the software developer Readify, according to Monday's announcement. Readify has been providing services to Microsoft for products like SharePoint, Office 365, and more. The company has received a host of awards from Microsoft.

Readify builds apps for customers and has had a hand in some of the largest Azure implementations in Australia. Terms of the acquisition have not yet been disclosed.

📅 Jul 7, 2016 - Skype Meetings Launched by Microsoft - Skype Meetings, a tool for companies to use for video chat meetings, was recently launched by Microsoft. Users will be able to organize meetings with up to 10 people and can use it any one time for a 60-day period after they set up the service. After that, they will only be able to call three people at a time.

The program will also allow for the use of online PowerPoint and even use of a laser pointer during the presentation. It's best for small companies, but Microsoft will be growing the program and will expand it to allow up to 250 people, at some point.

The area has seen more real estate action from data center purchases than more traditionally “tech” cities – Dallas, Chicago, Silicon Valley – as a recent report from a commercial real estate firm showed.

The purchase of data center space in unexpected places will become more commonplace as the industry continues to expand.

Rackspace began offering Office 365 nearly one year ago to date.

The announcement comes just one week before the annual Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, an event expected to draw more than 15,000 partners to the conference in Toronto.
