📅 - LeaseWeb, a web hosting provider, has recently launched a cloud platform in the Asia-Pacific market. They are not just dipping their toe in the water, but diving in with a full set of cloud services. The announcement was made on Monday and both public and private cloud products will be available.
The product suite for the Asian market will be about the same as the other products offered by LeaseWeb in the United States, Germany and the Netherlands. They will use the flat fee pricing model and will offer Apache CloudStack, along with fully redundant architecture.
This announcement doesn't come as much of a surprise. When LeaseWeb decided to open a data center in Singapore, it was only a matter of time before they followed it up with a cloud service for the Asian market. .

📅 - Even With Poor Results, IBM’s Cloud Business is Growing - The cloud business from IBM makes about $4.5 billion in revenue, which doesn't even include the private cloud infrastructure. This is less than Amazon Web Services, but about 45% more than last year for IBM.
During the third quarter, IBM didn't have much good news within the earnings report. However, the cloud business is growing, which was a bright spot.
IBM's CFO Martin Schroeter stated that the company is transitioning itself and repositioning for the future. They are aiming at dominating cloud services and taking over the Big Data analytics section of the industry. .

📅 - Virtustream Services Announced by VMware and EMC Corporation - Recently, VMware and EMC Corporation announced they will be co-owners of Virtustream. EMC purchased the company for $1.2 billion early this year. They are bringing VMware on to provide a range of cloud services. This will allow EMC and VMware to compete with larger cloud provides, such as Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
The timing of the announcement is interesting because just last week, Dell announced they will acquire EMC for $67 billion. This will be the largest technology deal ever and will include the EMC shares of VMware.
